Commercial Description:
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%. In 2009 this went to 9.8%.

Bottle From Belmont Party. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy and small caramel malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex very good beer.

Sampled at the imports tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 8/13/09. 2009 edition. Clearish amber pour with a thin beige head. Creamy vanilla aroma with some booze and caramel, but not overly sweet smelling. Flavor backs down the sweetness even more, as it has a nice boozy caramel and fruity beginning before a pleasant bitter hop finish. Very good brew.

2009 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a beige head that quickly decreases to a ring around the top with no lacing. The nose is strong and enticing with honey, wood and a hint of fruitiness. It is fairly dry on the palate with flavours of burnt toffee, whiskey, malt and spice. Alcohol is quite noticeable. Very enjoyable however and I imagine it may improve with a couple of years aging to be an absolute showstopper.

2006 bottle shared by Eugene thanks man. Pours an amber brune body with an off white head. Dark fruity plum vinous notes, caramelized sugars with a light etoh warming. Um then my notes read some total utter nonsense about victor being afraid to try this beer, cocaine, and feet water. And i was quoting BF2K... Yeah it was a good night!

2009 Vintage

8/01/2009: St. Ambroise Vintage Ale 2009... Aroma: Toffee maltiness, brown sugar, deep citrus. Appearance: Deep honey color, somewhat hazy, lasting frothy beige head. Flavor: Floral hoppiness, citrus, thick toffee maltiness, moderatly sweet. Palate: Medium-full body, smooth, slightly sticky. Overall: Very good, would probably improve even more with some more age.

341 mL/11.5 fl. oz. bottle (9.8% alc./vol.) shared by Tmoney99 at NATIFEST ’09. Thanks Tom! Rating #274 for this beer.
