Commercial Description:
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%. In 2009 this went to 9.8%.

Bottle@LCRBM08. Bottle 2006. Aroma has maltiness, wine, some ripe fruitiness. Hazy, orange coloured with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, quite fruity, bit old, vinous. Quite good.

341 ml bottle from the LCBO. 2007 vintage. pours amber with a nice equal protein suspension and a small off white head. aromas are classic american barley wine. malt forward with ripe fruit in the nose and hops also present. flavours are well intregrated but malt forward. bitter hop finish and i imgaine this would drink like a IIPA when fresh. im not sure that the year in my cellar added anything to this brew but it was enjoyable. i will seek out other vintages.

07 bottle courtesy of mr. Greg tpd975. Pours copper with white head. Aroma is malty with nice fruity nose reminding me of apricot.. Taste is again malty with light caramel and nice fruity mouthfeel apricot like giving the beer a warming thick palate.

This special 2007 vintage is courtesy of tpd975. It pours clear copper with gold edges and thin off white head. The aroma is rich sugary malts, some fruity esters and a bit of alcohol fumes. The taste is much the same but starting with a hoppy bite followed by light skin fruity esters and malt sweetness. Smooth and tasty with just a bit of heat. Will improve with age.

2001 vintage bottle, 9.6%abv. Hazy amber with no head. Aroma is mostly yeasty and a bit fruity with some cherries, and some light alcohol. The flavor is smooth, alcoholic, and sweet, with bright fruit and some yeast. Medium-full bodied with almost no carbonation leaving a pretty flat, dead feel. Some decent flavors going on, but this should have been drunk a few years ago.

Delicieuse biere... J ai une caisse de 12 qui vieilli... ainsi qu une 2006... 2007: A bit cloudy because of the yeast. Malty side is quite evident (caramel, brown sugar, candied fruits). Alcohol notes. Good hop bittering and aromas which lets the malty backbone get throught easily. My favorite BW yet, even beats Dieu du Ciels Solstice dhiver. I have a case of 12 of these aging and a 1 2006.

330. Thanks, Glouglouburp! This is the 2006, cracked with a couple years on it. Crystal clear medium amber. Light tan rim. Humongously concentrated oranges on the nose--pithy, fruity, biscuity. Like marmalade on toast, condensed to the 500th power. The effect is like a quadruple british IPA with age on it. Yum. Thick, sticky, syrupy body. Biscuit, orange, and tangerine on the mid-palate. Dry, biscuity finish. Awesome, awesome stuff. This years vintage rolled out at 9.2% ABV by the label.
