Commercial Description:
Also known as St.Ambroise Millésimée.

In honour of our tenth anniversary, McAuslan Vintage Ale has been brewed to continue the centuries-old tradition of strong ales and barley wines. Vintage Ale is rich and malty, with a surprisingly well balanced and clean hop finish provided by classic Goldings hops. The ale is unfiltered and derives its orange hue from wheat malt blended with pale and Munich malts. The malts also provide a hints of caramelized fruit reminiscent of a Christmas pudding.
McAuslan Brewing will celebrate each new year by brewing Vintage Ale on our anniversary. As a vintage product, we estimate this ale will remain in good condition for a number of years.
The 2006 edition is down from 9.4% to 9.2%. In 2007 this went to 8%

[Vintage 2001 sampled 2005]
A hazy orange beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet and quite hoppy. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy with a slight alcohol burn. Nice for a barley wine to by so hopped. Thanks, Per, for sharing.
Vintage 2000 - Sampled 2006 - it definately is over the top [4/3/5/3/10=2.5]
An amber beer with a fast disappearing orange head. The aroma is extremely oxidixed, but also has notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet and again very oxidixed but not as bad as in the aroma, but also has notes of fruit

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Fat, caramel aroma with a tart edge. Fairly full-bodied with notes of overripe apricots. Sweet caramel malts and sherry like accents. Perhaps somewhat oxidized. 290806

Hazy reddish-amber w/thich head; chewy, rich aroma with tons of malt, mint, leafy hops, peaches, alcohol. Flavour is rich, peachy, malty, perhaps a little bit more balance in the finish that last year’s (dryness contributed equally by woody-tasting hops and alcohol). This is kind of strange - like last year’s, it could do with some cellar age, but despite being even stronger, it is a little better balanced.
Earlier Rating: 12/8/2000 Total Score: 2.8
Peachy colour; heavy malt nose. Chewy-tasting, maybe a bit earthy, but very sweet and kind of cloying. Put it in the cellar for five years, cause it just ain’t ready yet.
