Aroma of raisin, alcohol, orange. Sweet fruity taste, but with a nice gentle bitter end. Some chocolate notes and toastiness as wel, that prevent the beer from being syrupy. Very nice beer! Aromas of raisins, caramel, candi sugar, and some brourbon. Flavor is big and bold of caramel, raisins, plums, brown sugar, candi sugar, earthy with some smoke notes as well. Nice soft palate for a pretty big brew. Feels thick in the mouth but not overly sweet. Warmth on the finish. Very easy to sip. Nice brew.. mannika (109), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 4, 2010 Pours hazy orange with a off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is fantastic. Mellow sweet fruitiness (apricots and maybe coconut??), with a bit of spicy and bready nose. Taste is very sweet - spiciness kicks in after a few seconds but subsides again to a bit of a malty sweetness. Thick, almost syrupy texture, very rich. Not much carbonation. Long finish. Fantastic. matt7215 (1002), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2009 341 ml bottle from the LCBO. 2007 vintage. pours amber with a nice equal protein suspension and a small off white head. aromas are classic american barley wine. malt forward with ripe fruit in the nose and hops also present. flavours are well intregrated but malt forward. bitter hop finish and i imgaine this would drink like a IIPA when fresh. im not sure that the year in my cellar added anything to this brew but it was enjoyable. i will seek out other vintages. rodenbach99 (711), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada
