From bottle. Pours a clear amber/brown, light in colour for this style. Burnt toffee and roasted malt aromas, and a nice balance of bitter and sweet on the palate.

Clear red with minimal head. Aroma of treacle and malt. Starts off sweet, then turns to coffee bitter, and then finishes with a good red kick -- a hint of licorice. Medium bodied.

ianwelby (869) - SCOTLAND - NOV 16, 2013
Slightly opaque, reddy-brown beer with an almost dusty caramel aroma. Flavour is mostly malt with a toasty edge with a touch of sour fruit in there too. There’s almost a fume-y feel in the mouth as you might get with a spirit. Slightly watery finish. Not bad but far from the best beer you’ll find of it’s type.

Bottle from Aldi. Murky brown body with a thin off-white head. Light lacing. Mild aroma of earth and caramel. Flavour of toffee apple, raisin, caramel and lightly roasted malt. Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation. A solid Brown Ale - with a higher ABV it could be truly excellent.

500ml bottle. Pours a brown colour with a minimal off white head. Little by way of aroma. A very authentic beer with significant yeast sediment left in the bottle after pouring. Slightly disappointing in terms of flavour compared to the best 80/- beers on the market. Caramel and fruity notes. Good but not great.

Bottled. Hazy mahogany colour, mid sized head. Malty aromas with strawberry as a backdrop. Mid sweet with medium body and well runded mouthfeel. Caramelly with fudge and esters. Low bitterness. Malt centric, and more harmonious than it way seem from my wording.

500ml bottle courtesy of JohnRMurdoch - clear red brown, rapidly diminishing head, no lacing, sweet malty, caramel, grainy texture, bit watery, bitter aftertaste
