COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
bottled, special
Brewed, bottled and labelled by hand in small batches of 513 bottles at one time by one bloke. Only the best malt and the finest whole hops are used; no tins of extracts or flavourings, just natural goodness. This beer, like all St Andrews Brewing Co beers, is brewed with passion to be drunk with passion. Enjoy, Bob.
A proper winter warmer. This strong dark ale follows the same recipe as my regular Neuk Ale, just jumped up to 7.8%. A rich dark ale full of chocolate and molasses flavours with a long lasting bitter finish, from a sack full of British hops.

Bottle from Beerhive. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fawn head. Nose - burnt sugar on the edge of liquorice. There’s something that resembles wood and/or smoke. Intriguing. Taste - dark chocolate and nougat. So Toblerone. Burnt sugar on top of this. This calms down to Highland toffee in the finish. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy texture. Despite this richness there is relative freshness in the finish.which is extremely long. Overall - delicious Scotch Ale. Almost as good as the regular version which is stunning. Great recipe Bob. Overall - Overall -

Bottle at xmas tasting. Dark brown, roast chocolate nose, bit of cheese, dry and bitter taste, roast chocolate.

330ml bottle at home. Pours dark, dark brown, near black. Thin tan head than soon goes. Aromas of burnt sugar, caramel, a woody note, and something zingy from (I’m guessing) the yeast. Dark stone fruit too, really interesting nose. Taste brings all this together, with a nice sweet toffee finish, and cleansing bitterness. Their best so far for me.

Black with almost no head - a small amount of beige foam around the edge of the glass. Aroma of earthy hops, roast malt, coffee, chocolate. Sweet with a light bitter finish. Oily texture, light-medium carbonation, could be a bit thicker. Pretty good.
