dirkules (611), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 10, 2006 Yellow brown pour with no head and no yeast in the beer or bottle. Sometimes there comes along a beer with phenols that taste of pickled cabbage in antifreeze. This is one of those beers. Slight nuttiness and caramel in the nose. Lightish body, slight maple syrup stickiness. Wow, this is raunchy.
Maria (3975), Thisted, Denmark Jul 19, 2008 Courtesy of Fonefan. The color is orange-red and the head is huge and nice. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and candy sugar. The flavour is sweet with notes of malt, candy sugar, fruit and a bit of caramel. It’s monotonous and far from what I expect from a triple. cellar (328), Dublin, Ireland Jul 3, 2008 Thx for a grand tasting, Chris_o :) Cloudy, ligth brown, strong notes of malt, toffee, dried fruti ,and cellar, sweet, lack of finish, unbalanced. Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Jun 8, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s laid back Friday night tasting. Light amber with a thin tan head. Fierce alcohol in the aroma, rather oxidised and I’m guessing this is pretty old. Oxidised caramel flavour, now I know this is definitely old. The hops are all but gone. Thankfully the alcohol is not as over the top as the aroma but it’s still there. Due to the age this is not really a tripel anymore. Lunkie (1006), Glen Iris, Australia May 31, 2008 Fruit hop malt aroma. Red amber colour with suspended bits and good head and lacing. Malt hop flavour with sharp aftertaste. Smooth palate. heavy (471), Split, Croatia May 27, 2008 25/05 0.33 l bottle from belgianshop.com, BB September 2007! But I guess it’s OK as brewery bankrupted some time ago. Anyway, poured orange amber body which had lot of yeast in it floating all the way around. Head was medium bigger, ocher colored. Malty and yeasty aroma, with some sourish fruit notes. Flavor was bitter and sourish, mostly fruity but tasted quite old. Moderate finish, following flavor completely. Interesting and different tripel, but didn’t impress me, still I think it would be much better fresh.
