COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional & bottle conditioned.
Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

The head is medium, the body clear brown, a bit orange. It smells a bit fruity. Taste is fruity, malty, bit hoparomatic, a bit spicy. 11/10/10/9/12/10

Nice woody aroma. Dry woody taste too. Fullish palate for a bottled beer. Sweet and a little buttery. But the dry woodiness is the big win here. Normally these guys are bright and hoppy, but this is quite heavy. Maybe a touch of butteriness, but not in a butterscotchy way, it’s just woody.

Pours a hazy copper colour with a small off white ring around the glass with a couple spots after a few minutes from a big initial soapy mess. Aroma is malty, caramel, grass, and fruity esters. Flavour is grassy, mild bitterness, caramel and biscuits. Tasty beer and a good representation of the style.

Bottle@Jano. Cloudy amber color, off-white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma. Smooth flavor with some floral hops, nuts and syrupy malt. Good balance. Reminiscent of Fuller's ESB, so quite good indeed.

Pours a hazy dark copper with a decent off white head that dissipates quickly into a small ring. Aroma of sweet pale malts, caramel, moderate fruity esthers with some grassy hop aroma as well. Taste is a medium bitterness throughout with some sweet caramel malts and a moderate frassy hop flavor as well. Also has a small hit of nuttiness to the flavor profile as well. Moderately carbonated and medium bodied esb that’s very pleasant to drink as the bitterness is perfect and doesnt stick around forever. Excellent bitter.

Light malt sniff. Bigger malt taste, sweet malt that is. Admiral. I’m going to be an admiral. I’m going to lead from the front, lead by example. Show the rest of the crew how it is done. I’ll do this by destroying the opposition. They will wish they hadn’t turned up. They will cry. It will be brutal but neccessary.

(bottle) Slightly unclear, dark amber colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Fruity and slightly woody hoppy aroma with notes of citrus and grapefruit, accompanied by a mildly toasty malty touch and caramel. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Aromatic blend of toasty malt and caramel with mainly fruity and delicately woody hops; moderately bitter hoppy and fruity finish with hints of biscuits and caramel. Well-crafted Ale. 11.II.13

0,5l bottle from Malta as gift. Clear, amber color with medium, creamy, light-brown head. Caramel, biscuit, malt and dried fruits in the odor. I can rarely smell such a nice one. In the aroma, nothing extreme, but amazing malty and fresh fruity flavours combinated with classic grassy and herbal English hops. Very pleasent and balanced. The hop makes it fresh. Light to medium bitter taste. Creamy texture, light to medium body, soft carbonation. Very balanced and delicious real ale. Nothing extreme or dominant, just what you expect from a classic English one. Delicious, sweet malt and nice bitter hop flavours.
