Cask; Occasional & bottle conditioned.
Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Bitter buona con una buona luppolatura fruttata e leggermente citrica. Leggera, davvero ben maltata. L’ammiraglio può ritenersi soddisfatto della sua ciurma!

2012 Bottle to pint glass Sweet fruitiness, loads of orange, some sweet malt, and red pepper. Clear amber with a huge mottled white and light tan head that quickly reduces to 1cm but leaving puffy mottling on the side of the glass. Taste is red bell pepper, black pepper, orange, lemongrass, and then finishing with grassy yeast.

Pours a red amber brown from bottle with virtually no head to speak of. Smells of roasty malt and dark fruits. Tastes mildly spiced, malt, slightly fruity hops and caramel. The finish is bitter and reminds me of black tea, which is no bad thing at all! A decent beer!

Bottle. Clear amber color with a thin foamy white head. Aroma of honey, caramel and floral hops. Sweet taste with some bitterness. Fruity flavor. Medium body. Oily feel. Low carbonation.

Pours with a dark red (somewhat towards brown) color and a mild/weak head. The aroma is very gentle and pleasant thanks to the citrusy hops. The taste is not too strong, although still straightforward, bitter with some roasted feel. A nice brew altogether.

Bottle conditioned. Clear reddish brown body. Thin whiteish head with poor retention. Malty, citrus hops, red fruit, fruit cake, black tea. Bittersweet. Dry finish. Sparkling. Good mouthfeel. Soft. St Austell’s "prestige" beer, and excellent it is too. Reminiscent of Fuller’s Vintage Ale without the pretension.
