Cask; Regular.
Our most famous and notorious ale. HSD is a full-bodied strong Cornish ale brimming with a kaleidoscope of flavours. Brewed with plenty of malt and lashings of English Fuggles and Golding hops, HSD is truly a classic ale of considerable depth and complexity.

Cask at gbbf day 5. Mostly clear golden amber coloured pour with a loose off white head. Aroma is caramel and toffee, mineral. Berry. And English hop. Flavour is composed of sweet toffee. Caramel and light apple. Palate is sweet, sugary, lowish carbonation. Not great.

Cask at The Wig & Pen, Truro (St Austell) A clear amber colour with a creamy off white head that lasted. Aroma of caramel, some fruity malt and subtle bread. Taste of red berries, some plum, subtle black cherry, caramel and woody, earthy hops. Light bodied and a smooth texture. A dry, earthy bitterness in the finish. A decent example for its style, malty and fruity to begin with a dry and earthy to end. Not exciting though.

Cask @Hicks Bar, St, Austell Taproom. 11-08-2014.
A malty blond ale, quite citrusy, with some nice hop punch. Smooth and enjoyable, but nothing remarkable, just another ok bitter.

Cask. Dark orange / amber, slight haze, still, small white head. Aroma is white bread, slight ’Stop n Grow’, tangy malt. Body is light, a touch foamy. Taste is mild semisweet malt, some astringency, breathy mustiness.
