Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. In recognition of a ‘Proper Job’, Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour of becoming a Light Infantry Regiment.
"Light, clear and refreshing with an assertive hop bitterness, Proper Job IPA is based on a traditional IPA recipe which makes it perfect for long, hot summer days."

Bottled. Pours hazy golden and an off-white head. Nose of citrus fruit and caramwl. Sweet flavor with grape fruit and again citrus and caramel. Medium bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation. More dry and nice bitter finish. An OK pale ale.

Tried this one back in August 2011.
Cool, not cold. Very thin, well flocculated pad of yeast on the bottom sees a very bright beer produce up in the glass. Sunny orange gold with sparse, sluggish carbonation and a satiny, pillow of white atop that holds on well. Well pronounced, hoppy nose like the cask version. Lots of fruit in there - honeydew, pineapple, grapefruit, lychee; fresh, sweet and ripe with a hint of bready yeast, toasted grain and pine needles. Well rounded in the mouth, quite light in the finish with light to moderate carbonation. Hops yield a heightened bitterness over the cask version. The fruit esters are wonderfully juicy and tangy and are balanced by the soft, malty midpalate. Dries out in the finish, soft pinewood and camphor stretch after the fruit fades out, a little malt and hop lingers well between sips. On a par with the cask version but I couldn’t down this one with similar vigour. A nice IPA! (50cL, BB 13/02/12, Greendale Farm Shop, Woodbury Common, Exmouth, Devon)

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Solid english ipa. Nothing amazing but shows some promising flavours. A go-er as far as pommy stuff is involved

500ml Bottle. Appearance is dark orangish-yellow color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is fruity, citrus hops, and some grain malts. Taste is heavy on the citrus hops, grass, and some malty sweetness. Palate is medium-bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a dry finish.

’Powerfully Hopped’ They say. They say this... it is not particularly true. This is fine, some richness, but little bitterness

I like this one, good hoppy profile and i like the citrus zing in the tail.Good malt flavours coming through the more of it i drink. Not much of a head and well carbonated maybe a little to much but all in all a good IPA in my opinion.

Pours orange with a large, billowy, eggshell white head. Aroma is flowery with some fruitiness. Taste is flowers up front, semi-dry caramel in the middle, some nuttiness in the finish.

50cl bottle from Waitrose. Amber with a fast fading white head; heady piney aroma with some citrus and apricot; soft in the mouth with tropical fruit and sharp resinous hops that provide a warming, prickly finish with a caramel aftertaste.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small frothy white head. Slightly spicy hop aroma, coniferous wood, not that intense though. Very soft palate, minimal sweet malt; dry, rudimentary sharp hop note, orange zest. Well balanced, very drinkable, but sadly a bit cautious, shy, reduced.
