Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. In recognition of a ‘Proper Job’, Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour of becoming a Light Infantry Regiment.
"Light, clear and refreshing with an assertive hop bitterness, Proper Job IPA is based on a traditional IPA recipe which makes it perfect for long, hot summer days."

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2014 I felt I had to edit this rating. I’ve been experimenting a lot more with IPA’s recently and I haven’t found one which comes close to Proper Job. This isn’t a good beer. It is truly a GREAT BEER! I felt that I couldn’t do anything but give it top marks in all respects. Original rating; The Beeriest Beer in Beerdom. This is what a really good Ale used to taste like decades ago. Bitter, Hops++, Malty, a real experience in ’proper’ beer. ’Proper Job’ - Absolutely!.

This beer has to rank among the best I have ever tasted. Beautiful pine citrus aromas upon the nose due to Williamette hops, along with a bold attack of cascade, Chinook that dances across the tongue. Despite being heavily hopped, this ale balances out nicely with malty sweetness.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2014 A great beer, not too heavy and ideal for warm summers. It states powerfully hopped but I would not agree. It falls way short of the OTT American hopped beers that go overboard. This just has the right balance of hops and makes for a perfect brew. Well done St Austell.

500ml bottle. Aroma is of rich dark orange chocolate. Appearance is pretty standard IPA, with a good frothy head. Taste is simply divine, very nicely hopped with an orangey hoppy flavor and a light bitter undertone. Rich texture, slick and lightly carbonated. Finish is long and intense. Cracking beer overall, very impressive, could be compared to Kelham Island Pale Rider. Haven’t tasted such a good bottled IPA in years.
