Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. In recognition of a ‘Proper Job’, Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour of becoming a Light Infantry Regiment.
"Light, clear and refreshing with an assertive hop bitterness, Proper Job IPA is based on a traditional IPA recipe which makes it perfect for long, hot summer days."

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2014 I felt I had to edit this rating. I’ve been experimenting a lot more with IPA’s recently and I haven’t found one which comes close to Proper Job. This isn’t a good beer. It is truly a GREAT BEER! I felt that I couldn’t do anything but give it top marks in all respects. Original rating; The Beeriest Beer in Beerdom. This is what a really good Ale used to taste like decades ago. Bitter, Hops++, Malty, a real experience in ’proper’ beer. ’Proper Job’ - Absolutely!.

Light Hoppy Beer. Bitter hoppiness but very easy refreshing drinking. Great summer beer.

500ml bottle. Aroma is of rich dark orange chocolate. Appearance is pretty standard IPA, with a good frothy head. Taste is simply divine, very nicely hopped with an orangey hoppy flavor and a light bitter undertone. Rich texture, slick and lightly carbonated. Finish is long and intense. Cracking beer overall, very impressive, could be compared to Kelham Island Pale Rider. Haven’t tasted such a good bottled IPA in years.

Bought a single bottle of this beer to try out this ratebeer app. Cracked ’er open and my tastebuds were instantly thankful. Finished it with a smile on my face.

From bottle. Light amber, slightly cloudy. Full bodied. Very nice hops bitterness, but not overpowering, beautifully balanced. One of my absolute favourite IPAs.

One of my favourite IPAs. Wonderful citrusy aromas, very complex hop tastes with a beautiful, bittersweet finish and a refreshing (but by no means flimsy) body.

Grassy nose with a hilt of malt. Clear and light to look at. Tropical fruit flavours and medium hops on the palate. Very refreshing for hot summer days.

Didnt need to read the blurb on the bottle to discover this was bottle conditioned - the carbonation gave that away. A pleasinginly good IPA, full in strength and flavour. Very American in its style. Nice to see a good example as there are plenty of poor British brewed IPAs out there that simply dont match the style. Heavy citrus notes that last throughout, quite syrupy, with spicy alcolhol finish.

Bottle shared with McTapps and hitting the points all the way. From its bit cloudy and sparkling look to its fresh, citrus and hoppy aroma - huge one. Fresh, refreshing, enjoyable - just call it a gourmet beer - if you are into hops. GREAT ONE.
