Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley. Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. Throughout the siege the traditional "Sunset Ceremony" (beating the retreat and lowering the national flag) was ignored as an act of defiance to the mutineers. In recognition of a "Proper Job" Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour

Enjoyed in Odense at C4. Pours hazy golden orange. Aroma is grassy. Resin and citrus is equally present. The taste is full of citrus and resin. Cloves and bread is also present. Very well balanced. Bitter, saying that casks don’t tend to be this bitter. Nevertheless I like it. The bitterness and the balance which follows is eminent. Very good.

Strong and intense beer with a light sweet caramel and medium bitter malts aromas. Dark amber clear colour with a minimal foam. Medium bodied with a slick texture, a soft carbonation and a bitter finish. Very generous and loyal.

From cask. Pours clear light amber with an off white head. Aroma of mango, tropical fruits, slight malty background, floral. Taste is light tropical, sweet background with light caramel malts, a bit floral and grassy, super clean and refreshing, very well balanced, more hoppy than the casks I normally get, very enjoyable. My kind of cask!!!

Several pints with Mal and John at the Black Bull in Gateshead. One of my favourite bottled beers toned down alcohol-wise to session strength without any loss of flavour. In fact, a tad more florally appetising and refreshing. What’s not to like?

Cask at the Empress, Cambridge. Dark gold, clear. Soft ring of white head. Light aroma of spruce and tropical fruit. Bittersweet but slightly unbalanced taste. Finish is bitter without the flavour to back it up. Not great for an APA.

Cask at the GBBF 2015. High clreamy lasting off-white head. Clear yellow golden body. Could almost not smelling anything apart from a bit of fruits. Weak malsts a bit of dry hops low carbonation. Short finish. What a disappointment.
