Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley. Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. Throughout the siege the traditional "Sunset Ceremony" (beating the retreat and lowering the national flag) was ignored as an act of defiance to the mutineers. In recognition of a "Proper Job" Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour

Cask at the hope fitzrovia. Yellow slight haze, still, small white head. Aroma is toned down, maybe a little rubber. Body is medium, fills mouth with foam, low carbonation. Taste is light, biscuity, touch of resin, soft tangy medicinal note, dry, mild bitterness. Highly drinkable.

Cask @Kings Arms, St. Just, Cornwall. 10-08-2014.
In short: hoppy refreshing ale.
A very refreshing ale, quite hoppy, herbal, fresh aromas and flavours, with nice creamy white head. After trying the bottled versions several times for years, this cask one was amazingly better.

Backlog rating. Keg at FOB, Rimini. It pours a pale straw color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity with notes of mango and ripe peaches, Taste is a bit bland with notes of grains, toffee, biscuit, some milder tropical fruit hops and resin notes. Light in body with soft carbonation. Overall, decent APA

Cask@Charlies Bar, Copenhagen - amber pour with white head. Fruity hoppy and floral aroma and taste, some honey sweetness, light toasty malts, some subtle citrus orange and lemon notes, high drink ability. Lovely drop.

Tap @ the Taphouse Sydney. Restrained floral hops and caramel notes. Caramel malts are prominent, but there is quality floral and citrus hops intertwined throughout, ending in a medium bitterness. Might not be fashionable, but I love this English style of ipa ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. One of my preferred beers in SW England. Lovely floral hops up front and not too much behind, but nothing to object to either. Easy drinking.

From squealer. Pours clear amber gold with small white head. Citrus and malty aroma, a little subdued though. Taste is between an IPA and golden ale, again subdued but very drinkable with mild grapefruit and sweet malt base. Some light grassy notes too. Tasty and sessionable ale.

The only cornish beer I’ve come across that I like they are usually flavorless and bland but this is nice and hoppy with a good balance. It’s a perfect session beer.
