2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask handpull at the Cock, Henham. Honey brown. Just a bit hazy. A bit of whitish head on top. Muted aroma of caramel malt, red grape. Fruity bittersweet taste with a well-judged malt/hop balance. A slight metallic edge. This doesn’t hang together quite right although it’s enjoyable enough. Could have done with a half instead of a pint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Red Lion, Hockley. Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear amber with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is big zesty tropical fruit. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light, smooth citrus, light spicy hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. An excellent session bitter.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A pleasant enough beer which I found lacking a little in powerful flavours. Malty biscuit flavours were nice but didn’t have anything to stand out from the crowd.

Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 11/02/13. A copper coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. A decently balanced beer but unexciting. Light berry fruits. A creamy texture. Quaffable but oh so plain.
