2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
24/05/2013 Birrifugio Trastevere (handpump). Ambrata, viva e limpidissima, schiuma bianca sottile e poco persistente.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden brown, thick white head; fresh malty aroma; creamy; smooth caramel malt taste, a little sweet; quite thick for the abv; spoilt by a slight hint of vinegar which suggested this example was on the turn; will try again (there will no doubt be plenty of opportunity in SW England) but on this evidence well short of a 3.0 beer.

Nice beer, a tiny bit cloying for my liking but still good to have in my fist on the right occasion.

Not a fan I’m afraid. Very sweet and syropy and not much else in the flavour. Would love some citrus, pine even floral tastes but they’re not there.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Tasted 19/4/2013 draught "The Victoria Inn", Roche, Cornwall. Poured a moderate pale golden amber colour. Poured as a glass of bubbles that settled to a 5mm off-white head. Laced well. Aroma moderately strong citrus (orange) and maybe a bit of malt. Tasted ever so slight sweet citrus (orange, grapefruit) with no real bitterness. Light body. Smooth, soft, light ale with a short moderately sweet finish.

Pint at The Atlas near Earls Court Two. 4gbp a pint... Is this London? Hazy golden colour with medium head. Rather pleasant.

Cask. Rather uninteresting pale brown pour. Sweet malt aroma. Some brown sugar perhaps? Generally bready. Plain, uneventful finish. Pretty meh.

Good steady beer, goes well sitting by a Cornish Harber. Wouldn’t be so keen in a pub in London!

Cask @ Woodland Tavern L.Spa. Poured beautifully with a full head which remained for quite a while. Soft hop aroma. Caramel and butterscotch maltiness with a a crisp bitter finish. Delicious and very well kept.
(Rated in wrong place - need to figure out how to remove from bottles!)

Cask handpump at The Fox, Newbourne. Golden brown with a nice head. Floral aroma. Quite rich and full bodied for its 4.2%.
