Pint cask,Carbeile Inn, Torpoint, Cornwall
Orange coloured bitter with large lasting white head, good malt balence with bitter aftertaste. Citrus aroma. This was probably the best kept pint of real ale I had during my month in England earlier this year - I make no apologies for the high score it deservedly got.

Citrus and malt come through, I actually prefer the bottles because they have more fizz - probably because I have only gone over to ’real ale’ from lager recently. Great beer all the same. In lots of the local pubs here as one can imagine.

Cask at Kings Arm, Oxford. Poured a lovely golden copper colour, with a medium white head. Lovely sweet fruity aroma. Plenty of fruit and toffee in the finish. A well made beer, one of my favourites.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2008 Cask at Malt Shovel, Spondon. Oh, yes! Murkey amber body, lovely white head with good lacing, smells citrusy, tastes fruity/caramelly, hints at a bitter finish. Very well rounded, even my wife liked it (she normally says ’umm, it tastes of beer’. But she’s a cider drinker, so what does she know?!
Excellent bitter, would love to find somewhere north of the West Country that keeps this on cask.
The fact that the landlord was retiring so all the beer was FREE tonight in no way influences this rating. Though, after six pints of it, it’s taken me 15 minutes to write this review....

another cornish ale (the other one being ’Doom Bar’) I could sample during my recent trip to Somerset ... pale amber color ... smell of tangerines and orange zest ... taste of pink grapefruit, starfruit over smoked barley ... another example of a rather unique interesting cornish ale ...
