Light yeasty aroma, bubblegum, and some citrus. Bit metallic. Dull golden clear with foamy white lacing head. Light watery body with high carbonation. Starts with a bit of sweetness, Belgian yeast, and mild acidity. Bitterness increases to the finish, with a bit of chalky after. Hops are crisp, but overtly bitter. Mild chemical bitterness.

The Lure:
Meringue again, as in its siamese sister Gauloise Blonde, but maybe a drier overall perfume.

The Festivities:
Minute herbal hop flavor crawls among ambitious effervescence and under flying chalky bits. At once, dry and watery.

Transcendence:
Yawning is not necessarily a sign of complete disinterest.

Pie dough and sweet malts in the nose with strong lemon and honey notes draw you into this one. Hazy yeallow couloured body with small-bubbled, white head that recedes to cover with very little lacing. Tart lemon and strong wheat flavour seems very reminiscent of a witbier though spiciness is absent. Medium-light body is fluffy in structure with an engaging prickliness in the mouth. Bottle (Best Before 11/09/05) enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere.

Extremely close to gauloise blonde, but drier and more weizen like in essence. It almost puts the words cloves and bananas on your tongue. It’s as beautiful as the gauloise with its shining golden hue and typical du bocq diplomatic white cover with fine lacing. Unlike the gauloise though, it has a close to medicinal hint through that dry powdery texture that I don’t get into. Hops feel rather dusty though they bring a pleasant dryness. Finish is almost astringent, most likely a result of those tired hops. Just like the gauloise, it has that rather stale character, though more like a weizen here.

Cloudy golden colour with good sized white head. Aroma has citrus lemon, peach and yeast. Flavour is sweet, honey, spices and malt, with a nice hoppy finish. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty good.

St Benoit Blonde Bottle brought back from Belgium. Pours gold with a fluffy head. Aroma is malty & spicy with some dusty hops. The beer is sweet and malty with notes of spice and quite a bit of honey. Slight hoppy bitterness. Pretty good.

Chromate yellow beer, slight cold haze; good fluffy, just off-white head. Very yeasty notes: meaty, but also banana and (canned) pineapple. Touch of diacetyl? Dry beer with sweet underbuild. Lots of white candy sugar, IMO, and I still suspect some (but little) diacetyl. Orange/citrus and other, all yeasty, flavours. Tastes a bit green. Medium bodied, bit slick. Bof. Would have benefitted from a few weeks lagering in a warm room at the brewery.
