Bottle, bought @ Fox & Hounds, Aabenraa. Pours a deep brown red with a pretty, frothy white head. Aroma is mild with a touch of chocolate and caramel. Watery and rather thin palate. Flavour has a little dried fruits, caramel, raspberries and chocolate. But overall, this is a seriously boring Belgian.

330ml bottle in Lyon. Nice dark brown colour with a 1cm persistent head. Aroma is sweet and alcoholic and the flavour is dominated by caramel malt. Palate too watery for my liking - overall a very average dubbel.

Cola brown with cream froth. Drank this over a 2 hour period, and it got better. Liquorice and yeast extract giving way to a chocolate malty smoothness. Quite a heady orange-accented aroma with dusting of ginger or anise-like spice, wet leaves and chocolate. Hops detectable. Better without the ’delicate sparkle’. Creamy, balanced and packed with Belgian spice on the re-rate. Would make a cracking house beer- big on flavour but not overly demanding. Really decent bruin/dubbel.

2 months after bbf Dark mahogny look, with a sustaining dense brown head. Aroma is abit like a brown ale, sweet and nutty. Flavor brings forths the fruity esters, but overall the sweetness is too much, and the bitterness too dull and a little metallic.
