Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 27, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Brown and surprisingly clear beer, huge, frothy head. Caramel and candy sugars in the flavour with some roasted malt. Could do with a bit more body - this is surprisingly almost watery for a Dubbel. 170398 Jukkabro (2983), Tampere, Finland Mar 30, 2005 Dark brown, hints of red colored. Big beige head. Strong chocolate aroma, alcohol covered totally. Medium bodied. Flavor has also strong dominating chocolate, ends with some spices and crispy hoppy and carbonated bite. Thin alcohol comes up also in flavor. Nice brew, still somehow one dimensional for being dubbel. Choos (504), Taylors Hill, Australia Mar 16, 2005 Aroma: malty and chocolaty. Appearance: dark brown with a hint of red, a little hazy and has a good steady tan head. Flavour: hoppy lightly malt with some roasty flavours and noticeable alcohol. Palate: well carbonated with a medium mouthfeel and a lingering carbon and hop bitterness. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 7, 2005 Roasted mocha and creme on the nose with a hint of toffee and malt acidity. oxidized and burnt malt on the palate with just a touch of yeast driven spice. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia Feb 13, 2005 Mlat aroma with hints of grass and earth. Cloudy caramel colour with fantastic head. Spiritus thin flavour with bitter malt flavours. Thin mouth feel and smooth palate. Pimgref (84), Gorinchem, Netherlands Feb 12, 2005 Fruity (cherry) a bit smokey malt flavor. Looks good with dark brown body and off-white head. Stew41 (1042), Caulfield, Australia Jan 12, 2005 Less than convincing on the nose with some metallic chocolate notes. Better in the mouth but feels quite dilute. No character to speak of......this doesn’t seem right. Bad bottle? MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 11, 2005 The Lure: Brown sugar and sweet fruit juice powder cover the bloated bubbles. Cola afterthoughts atop the burgundy-brown clothing.
The Festivities: The roasty, dark chocolate mineral water is starting to rust I’m afraid. The ending is thus dryish, stale and somewhat salty.
Transcendence: Not sure if this one came from the faucet or not.
