Roasted mocha and creme on the nose with a hint of toffee and malt acidity. oxidized and burnt malt on the palate with just a touch of yeast driven spice.

Murky plum brown colour with some medium brown fish flake sediment. Large medium size, lasting tan head leaving sporadic lacing on glass. Awesome dried and fresh fruit smorgasbord, spices, liquorice, coffee, celery and sappy hop aromas. A relatively light, almost iced black coffee style body. Yeasty malty plum pudding and bitter chocolate festive flavours, but not overly sweet at all. Maybe a bit light on at the finish and in the aftertaste departments to make this a really top beer. Still real nice though. Recommended.

a yummy brune. first thing that hit me was a real smokiness of the sort that you never get in belgian beer - more like a schwarzbier. flavours are malty-fruity, but very clean and light. dark red-brown with a fine creamy head. one of the better brunes - just needs a bit more guts and it would be up there.

Draught. Dark red/ruby with a non-existing head. Very fruity aroma, grapes and plum. Taste of plum, malt, nice hoppy finish.

Amber coloured beer with a small light brown creamy head. Fruity aroma and taste. Malty but with a distinct bitter finish. Rather carbonated. Had it at the Kulminator, Antwerpen. Vintage beer wtih a best before date: 2001.

Small light brown head. Dark red-brown body. Nice aroma; spicy, sweet and fruity. Medium body. Taste is sweet and spicy(coriander and liquorice) with a sharp edge. The spicy-sharp thing turns me off this beer though I recon it will work well with a fatty christmas dinner. There are better examples of the style out there.

Ooohh, I liked this little gem. I was expecting a little of the La Gauloise Brune in this one, but this was in a league of its own. Tasted from the bottle into a chalice, cool and not cold. Poured an inviting dark, slightly hazy, ruby-garnet brown with a big, dense, slowly forming tannish head that lasted and left webs of lace. Sultanas and fermented plum wine in the nose, with strong wafts of mud-cake and peppery notes of yeast and alcohol. Unexpectedly (for the ABV) warming, mellow and homely in the mouth with a spicy mix of dried red fruits, chocolaty dark malts and notes of bready yeast. Quite smooth, well rounded and soft and prickly in carbonation, it crossed the tongue with a slow pace belying its modest alcohol level. Finish was quite long, dry and malty. A nice little winter warmer. Lovely!! (33cL, BBE 10/06)
