Big thanks to BMan1113VR for brining this beer back for me from California. This is my official #500 rating for beers. Pours a nice brown mahoganey with a light brown color head that is somewhat small. Nose is grapes, fruit, booze, port, malt and sugar. Taste is sweet and thick of syrup, dark fruits, and sugar. Very complex taste the opens as it finishes. The alcohol content is very well hidden as it has no bite to it at all. Finish is warming and long lasting. As the beer slides down your tongue it only gets better and more complex. Great brew.

Beautiful ruby color with some floating yeast particles, good cloudy beige head, lace. Fruity, grassy, light toffee, hints of metal and smoke - nose is weaker than expected. Quite carbonated. Frutiy, toffeish, not as complex as normal Abt 12. Alcohol is well hidden. With score 4.09 this is maybe a bit overhyped here.

Aug 31, 2008 Bottle sampled on 8/30/2008. This quad pours a deep brown color from a caged and corked 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar, yeast, some caramel and chocolate. A full to medium bodied Abbey Quad. The malts are very fruity, with some caramel and brown sugar. Lots of dark fruit flavors. The hops are slightly spicy and earthy. Nice lively carbonation. Lots of flavors in this beer. They tend to mix and match differently with each sip, sometimes its the chocolate that’s more evident, sometimes the yeast and others it’s the dark fruits. This one has been aging in the fridge for nearly 2 years. It seems to have not suffered any ill effect, but I did not try this one fresh, so I have no comparison. Very full and smooth tasting. The 11% alcohol is not very evident. Mouthfeel is full and round. The finish is clean and smooth. The aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Aug 29, 2008 A little stronger as the normal version. I could drink this beer on bottle. Very complex beer with great aftertaste. Also taste of alcohol. Almost perfect

Aug 24, 2008 Bottled (thanks drewbeerme!). Amber colour with particles floating around. Mediumsized beige head. Aroma is grass, parfume, some caramel, alcohol, earth and spices. Flavour is caramel, toffee and grass with some mild fruityness. Quite different from the normal Abt 12, and sadly not as good as the normal either.
