Commercial Description:
The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %). A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation. The show piece of the brewery. Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted. The Abt has a very fruity flavour.

The bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass very dark, really nice head. Woody aroma. Starts strong malty with complex woody notes. Good down like velvet with notes of chocolate and coffee. Really good, but not as good as exspected.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with an off white head. Aroma of sugar, yeast, and dark fruits. Flavor matches the aroma with the addition of a subtle banana flavor. Smooth beer. Very good.

My original introduction to Quads and it didn’t disappoint. Though I must say recent ratings for other Quads have brought higher grades, I think it is my updated taste in various beers that is the reason. Anyhow, the smell of this beer is very special, dried fruits, particularly raisins with a rather strong hint of alcohol give this beer a heavy, yet smooth taste. A good example of the style.

I was looking forward to this one, but must of got a bad bottle. Was chunky with black ’floaties’. If i see it again I’ll grab another bottle. :(
