bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Apr 2, 2009 On tap at Stardust. Dark brown body. Incredibly sweet rich maltiness. Dark fruits and cherries. Has an almost leathery quality about it. Goes down way too easy for 10.5 percent. Warming on the way down, with very nice raisiny tartness. Can’t wait to have this again.
general - really waited for this moment
aroma - deep as a big fermenter full of goodnesss only, smooth alc notes, fruits and alc, very smooth and multidimentional, I am not ready yet to rate it I guess
appearance - ruby brown, head medium strong, frothy
taste - sweet, very mature multi malt combination, strong alc but not too aicidic, smooth palatedelicate but very concrete taste, Luv it, a bit citro at the end (sweet grapeifruit or pomelo)
shawnm213 (877), South Bend, Indiana, USA Mar 30, 2009 Updated: May 13, 2009great looking beer. tastes pretty good too if you’re into quads. dark fruits. gotta get this one on draft. beerlud (22), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 29, 2009 Apple freshness, dark fruits, raison bread, and candy sugar on the nose. Flavor of raisins, dates, and dark fruits, Vanilla, coke syrup, candy sugar, and cough syrup. tpd975 (95), Riverview, Florida, USA Mar 29, 2009 A: Pours murky brown with crimson hues around the edges. An average size ivory white head build and then falls until the contents are even with the 33cl line on my St. Bernardus glass. The collar that remains leaves behind spider webbed lacing on all the way down the glass
S: Bazooka bubblegum, ripe red apples, and blackened brown sugar are the first things to hit you. Raisins, dark fruit and hint of booze come next. Nice smelling brew that begs to be drank.
T: Pretty similar to the nose. Overripe apples, raisins, dates and bubble gum at first, A hint of alcohol can be felt at the end. It’s a perfect concoction of boozy sweetness.
M: Heavy in body, with a slightly dry finish.
D: Very good for the ABV, truly a world class beer. soccer290 (135), Highland Park, Illinois, USA Mar 28, 2009 On tap at the Map Room in Chicago, IL.Heard great things, so I figured, why not? Pours a dark brown with a large off white head. One of the most amazing things in this beer was the lacing of it, beautiful gracing the sides of the beer throughout. Smells very strongly of dark raisins, some other dark fruits (perhaps cherry?), and a bit of dark chocolate. The taste was the most potent thing about it, with such a strong raisin flavor that you could tell immediately that it was a Quad. However, it goes down quite smoothly. Overall a very interesting quad, though after having it, I realized quads aren’t my preferred style, though I can respect them nonetheless. Under-age Drinker (96), Colorado, USA Mar 25, 2009 Pours a murky, cloudy, deep tar color. Nose is earthy, leather, tart cherry and fruit. More fruit than most American Quads I have tasted. Taste is sweet on the beginning moving to vanilla, acid, and finish is dry. A lot more dry than other American Quads I have tried, not my favorite style, but still an excellent beer.
