COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the St. Bernardus beers. It is also the beer with the highest alcohol content (10.50 %). A dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation. The show piece of the brewery. Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted. The Abt has a very fruity flavour.

The Saint....once fairly easy to find, now an elusive fella, if you see that fat little monk smiling on the label, DO NOT pass him by, DO NOT take him for granted. Pick this guy up, immediately head home, dust off your favorite snifter and go to town. This guy is delicious. It’s brewed with artisan water that is pumped from a depth of 500 feet, which is especially impressive when compared to the likes of bud light or Miller lite, whose water source is, on the best day, a puddle and on the worst day toilet water. Toilet water from the upper tank, no doubt, but toilet water nonetheless. The aroma is pleasing and not overwhelming, and although this packs a mean alcohol punch, you’d be hard pressed to taste it. This is a living ale which can be aged for up to fifteen years...which means this is probably the perfect birthday present to get your favorite 6 year old. Happy birthday little buddy, you’re welcome in advance.

Ohhhhh The Saint. Long one of my favorites, and difficult to find around Rhode Island. Blind taste tested along with Chimay Blue and Rochefort 10 (it came in 2nd behind Chimay), it was slightly sweeter and less smooth than the Chimay, smoother and less sweet than the Rochefort, and definitely contained the best display. Slight banana flavor, extremely crisp. Carbonated slightly above average, perhaps due to the 500 foot deep artesianal well water, which is just plain awesome, although I have no scientific facts about that. Overall, it’s one of my favorite beers.

At Broken Top Bottle Shop; tangy, tasty, flirty, with a sweet zing at the finish.

Bottle was a gusher, which is depressing but I still had half the beer. Great aroma. Fruit and yeast are most prominent. Flavor follows with some caramel and booze on the finish. Really good but I do wish the alcohol on the end was a little less noticeable.

From 330 ml bottle, pours a solid dark brown with a persisting beige head. The aroma is awesome - plums, cherries, dark bread and some caramel sweetness. The taste shows some stewed fruit, burnt sugar, orange zest, fruitcake and a slight mineral note. The alcohol is apparent but not overwhelming. Powerful, but pretty great all the same.

Dark amber colour. Slightly Belgian phenolic aroma with hints of alcohol. Can taste Dried fruit, raisins with an alcoholic finish. Great full bodied beer. High carbonation adds to a lingering bitterness. Overall a nice beer and hides the alcohol ok.

Pours a dark and deep amber color with a medium tan head. Aromas are fruits, raisins, but also a hint of bubble gum. Long and bitter finish. Alcoholic taste is a bit too strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smell of plums burnt sugar some wheat bread. Muddy brown apparel with a head that lasts and lasts. Taste of coffee, chocolate cane sugar malt wheat bread and plums again. Love the mouthfeel of this one, nice and thick. Carbonation medium. Overall a nice belgian abbey. I can drink this one forever.
