Oct 18, 2009 A truly superb ale. Excellent head, very smooth, dark, malty with just a hint of fruit. Sweet alcohol taste is there on the finish but not off-putting.

Oct 13, 2009 Very enjoyable brew. Notes of brown sugar even out the bitterness at the end. Yeasty and fruity plums with spice. Must allow it to warm up some before drinking to get the full amount of pleasure.

Oct 10, 2009 Very dark, near black murky color. Aroma is of sweeter malts, yeast, citrus, and some spices. Taste is a little sweet. Flavors include malts, yeast, brown sugar, caramel, and little bit of alcohol in the back end. Has a sweet and bitter aftertaste. A pretty smooth brew for having a higher alcohol content.

Oct 10, 2009 Malty sweetness on the pour. perhaps a little caramel smell as well. beautiful dark dark brown pour with tons of frothy off white head. Very smooth mouthfeel. Small hints of alcohol on the palate but nothing too overpowering. delicious.

Oct 6, 2009 On tap at Fathers office. Poured a dark brown color with beautiful bubbly head. Taste of dry roasted fruits, yeasty, bready and malty. Aroma is sweet like raisins with hint of alcohol. Medium carbonation with smooth finish. Very very good.

Oct 6, 2009 Tap and bottle. Nice replica of the Westvleteren 12. Although it isn’t as compareable as the both 8’s. Brown sugar and nice hops.(although they didn’t use the Poperingse as Westvleteren does). Too much alcohol in it for me, could have been better with less.

Very sweet nose, spices, hop.
Interesting balance. Not very pronounced but symphonic. Alcohol only evident towards the end of the taste, as it clings out watery with a bite.
Fizzy, thin.
Nice. But gets more alcoholic as you go along. I guess part of the style, but too much for me.

Sep 29, 2009 Dark amber brown pour with a small dense head. Aroma is complex. Rich brown sugar, creamy malts, dark fruit, spice, yeast and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is sweet and rich. Dark fruit, dark chocolate, molasses, yeast and spice with alcohol. Nice.
