Poured into a Unibroue Chalice, a clear dark golden/amber color, nice carbonation, nice 1.5 finger creamy tan head which hangs around for quite sometime, tons of sticky lacing around with some foamy puddles. The nose is sweet malty, with nice scents of grapes, raisins, figs, and prunes. The taste is pretty carbonated, sweet/malty, slightly tart/tangy, nice dry finish. The alcohol is hidden very well. Medium body, a nice complex brew. Very drinkable, a truly awesome beer. Glad it is more readily available, than say a Westy 12.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2008 10 months old bottle. Opaque ruby brown, beige foamy head. Alcoholic, herbal aroma with port wine, fruits, coconut, berries. Flavor is strong herbs, liquorice, cane sugar and berry wine. Lingering vinous and bitter finish. Medium bodied, strong fizzy carbonation. Clear alcohol burn, didn’t seem that diverse. I’ll try a further aged bottle sometime. BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine and More in Tampa. Aroma is very nice but not that strong. Definately fruity...apple and raisins. Pours reddish brown with a pretty thick tan head...Actually looks like a root beer float. Bottle has a cool shape to it. Flavor is malty...raisins, somehow reminds me of cinnamon roll. Quite a bit of alcohol...its not necessarily very strong but it leaves almost a vodka taste in your mouth. Actually kind of a bourbon flavor. Palate is a little harsh...I could actually feel the alcohol burning my nostrils a little bit. Overall...its not my favorite...but it’s definately very good...I can’t really compare it to any other beer I’ve had...but if you like the stronger stuff...It’s as good as the rating. flatmatt (222), Northville, Michigan, USA

Pours reddish brown with a fizzy light tan head. Fruity aroma of raisin, apple, grape, hint of anise. Malty flavors of raisins and grapes, a little tart apple, caramel, and a fair bit of alcohol. Nice palate with medium carbonation. Very good and flavorful, but not quite amazing. finol (486), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

Cloudy apperance
Very sweet in aroma and taste. Not complex and therefore a less interesting chooice than other abby ales montev87 (7), , Florida, USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Pours dark and cloudy with an incredibly resilient head. Everyone talks about how good the flavor is, but... to each his own. I found the flavor excessively alcoholic and chalky overall. This beer was ruined for me when I realized it tastes like Flinstone Chewable Vitamins.
