Kalli (474), Falun, Sweden Aug 4, 2008 [Archive] Sweet syrupy aroma but not that much. Alcohol, chocolate, lots of carbonation and it’s quite heavy. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours dark brown with redish hue. Rather large foamy tan head that doesn’t last real long. Aroma of bread and alcohol. Great palate. Light carbanation. Hints of spice and caramel. Light alcohol burn to the finish. Alchohol is hidden very well in this one. Great beer. thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours a dark brown, with a foamy cream head. Looks almost like coca-cola. Smells very malty. Nice. Flavor is....incredible. Lots of malty, nice hop bitterness too. Balance. Good and fruity too. Plum, figs, maybe some citrus. Smooth. Delicious. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Aug 1, 2008 Crushed with Dadbra. One hell of a bouquet. Looks great, complex and sexy as hell. Definitely a top brew. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 31, 2008 Poured a cloudy brownm color with decent sized head. I could detect a banana and vanilla scent. Flavor is much like it smells and leaves you with a alcohol burn and aftertaste. A good brew but not in the same league as the Rochefort Trappistes 10 that I had recently. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 31, 2008 No 700, why not have something good… Murky brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is complex, to say the least. Nuts, fruit, alcohol, toasted malt, sweet malt, yeast, raison, toffee, sugar. Taste is equally complex with sweet malt, sugar, banana, nuts, raison, alcohol, brown sugar, fruit, etc. A little alcohol burn to go with the fruity/nutty finish. Good stuff here. zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Jul 31, 2008 Updated: Jan 22, 2009After some more beers, I find this one fine but something in it’s flavor becomes too medicinic for my taste. I have decided to drop 1 point from It’s flavor and aroma.
Old rating:
Great beer, Dark reddish color with tan head that diminish slowly, nice plum-raisin aroma with sweet fruity flavor where alcohol is hidden well. Great balance of sweetness and bitterness. Yet my favorite. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Aroma was fruity vanilla malts and alcohol. The pour was nice hazy brown with a thick light tan head. The head takes some time to settle down and leaves a nice thin layer on top until the end. Flavor was a complex mixture of fruits, syrup, malts and hints of vanilla and alcohol. Palate was incredible. Carbonation from beginning to end that finished almost frothy. Leaves my tongue tingling. Not a big carbonation man myself, but it is well implemented here.
