Sandman2222 (42), Florida, USA Jul 13, 2008 Thanks to kiefdog for sharing! Dark brown, pour. Decent head without going away much through the beer. It was a little heavy on the sugar and alcohol, but that’s in comparison to a Westvleteren 12. A good solid brew, that if you can’t get the Westvleteren, makes a great substitute. benwa420 (43), Aspen, Colorado, USA Jul 12, 2008 very impressed. nice amber color with a large white/ tan head. nice smooth beer without the strong alcohol taste. Fantasztikus! Caleb1035 (63), , North Carolina, USA Jul 9, 2008 750 bottle purchased at vintage in Ballantyne. Pours to dark body with an off white head. Flavor is excellent with little hint of alcohol. Top notch beer UriahHeep (103), Georgia, USA Jul 8, 2008 Updated: Jul 30, 2009.25L in trappist glass @ Brick Store. Surprisingly this only cost 6 bucks. Huge, frothy, brown head and a deep caramel color. I honestly wasn’t expecting this to be so strong. Complex aromas and tastes, including sweet bread, spices and dark fruits. Left ornate lacing on my glass. Sweet with a creamy mouth feel, a good beer for sipping. Astringent finish, almost like drinking a fine wine. I’ll have to try another one of these before making the final judgement. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours a fizzy cloudy dark ivory with a frothy light brown head. Has the aroma of dark fruits(cherry/plum/pumpkin), zing of spice, bread, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is very balanced with the fruit coming through from beginning to end with a little bread, spice(cinnamon) and little alcohol showing though but almost completely hidden. Sweet, very smooth/creamy, and rich. This just my be my favorite Belgian style brew. I think this is better than its competitors like rochefort 10, 8, and struise pannepot. Awsome! wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Jul 7, 2008 Bottle, Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. OOweee ! This is truly a classic. Hadn’t tried this in years, and have I been missing out ! Very dense dark brown with a lingering biege head. Corking aroma loaded with fruit, caramel and spice. Flavour is awesome...sweetish with lots of fruit, spice, vanilla and hop.
A real treat. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA Jul 6, 2008 Love this beer. Brown and cloudy, huge head. Raisins, brown sugar, candied fruit, and bananas. Syrupy and smooth finish. One of the best I’ve ever tried.
