4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours amber brown. Not much carbonation. Looks fairly light bodied with little flecks of yeast or protein floating near the bottom. Smell is sweet and almost dr. Pepper in quality. No real hop presence. Mouthfeel is way thicker than the beer looked. Powerful complex taste. Very malty, fruity, with licorice, and a slightly earthy quality. Bitter finish with lingering spice. I'm not sure I would want to drink a while bottle myself. I give high praise for the complexity but I think I will need time to appreciate this beer more; as I appreciate but don't enjoy it as much.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Classic quad stuff going on... plums, sweet malts, bread... cherries... bit more of a hoppy bite to this than with some of the other renowned quads, which makes for a fresher beer. Slips down far too easily.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the best examples of a belgian quad. Its also a great gateway beer into the craft scene, which is what the beer was for me. Often compared to the Westy 12, recently thats somewhat valid. The Westy 12, as it is brewed recently, is a more hoppy, far more drinkable, and seemingly more alcoholic version of this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Tanakaya. Raisin, prune, bready malt candied sugar, caramel and molasses on the nose with some light booze and chocolate as it warms. Very smooth and hides the abv well. Sweet on the palate with a heavy mouthfeel. Lots of flavors come out as it warms up along with a just a hint of warming on the finish. I get why this is a great beer, but quads are just not my thing.
