COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Spoko piwo. Fajny aromat, spoko wygląd i świetny smak. Jakoś nie byłem przekonany wcześniej do tego gatunku, ale to piwo powoli to zmienia..

Tried a small bottle out of a holiday mixer pack. Smells very sweet. A little off putting to be honest. Fruity aroma. Pours a very dark amber. Head dispersal quickly. Very hazy with bits of fermentation suspended in the beer. Has plenty of carbonation. Goes down smooth for a beer with such a high alcohol content. Overall I was very pleased with this beer. Little to no overpowering hop taste. It was a little sweet for my liking, but we will see how the cellered bottles do in a year or so. You can tell this is a quality brew. MB

0.33 bottle. Very dark, brown color and a large, off-white head. Aroma of malts, yeasts, overripe fruits, some ash, raisins, and delicate alcohol. Sweet taste of malts, caramel, fruity bitterness, and spices. Medium to full body, slick texture, and average carbonation. Finish is more roasted though generally follows the taste - a molasses-like bitterness lingers. Overall a good beer but has perceptible flaws.

This came off rather sweet, but with a sickly sour second note. The beer is smooth and pretty, but has a slightly off taste. I tried downing a handful of dried cranberries to adjust my tastebuds, which improved the flavor of the beer, taking out the unpleasant sickly sweet. Afterwards it tasted like a good quad, but without much complexity.

DWF; MAR 14. Bottle, Magnum Edition 2014, 1,5 L. corked. A unique collector’s item.. hmm. Pours large, dark brown with a large frothy to creamy, lacing, moderate lasting tan head. Aroma is heavy malt, caramel, yeast and nuts, moderate overripe fruit, light ash, grass, alchol and spice. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet, light to moderate bitter with a lasting, warming, roasted finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to silky, carbonation is avarage.

Poured from 330ml bottle after cellaring for four years. Clear, dark reddish brown with significant suspended dark sediment. Even more sediment was left in the bottom of the bottle. It had a 1-finger pastel yellow head and very good lacing. Intense raisin aroma with other dark fruit, toffee, apple, pear, vanilla and yeast. Taste of dates, raisins, black figs, apples, cloves, spices, vanilla, toffee and dark malt. The sediment does not seem to have hurt the flavor or the mouthfeel. Medium body and high carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from beer gonzo. Typical Belgian beer aroma. Taste stewed fruit and malty yeastiness. Great beer
