Crosling (1637), Loveland, Colorado, USA Oct 4, 2004 Updated: Jun 17, 2005 Rerate June 2005. Rich fruits and soft esters, come out of the deep ruby body and glorious head. Hints of figs, chocolate, ripe dark fruit and brandy soaked malts in the nose. Delicate and creamy body, understandable alcohol presence, and palate soaking flavors. Notes of plums and grapes, with light chocolate and vanilla. Definately a great beer but the aroma is pretty dull on my sample and the flavor isn’t as great as say; Westveletern 12.

A fine looking beer. Pours out a dark brown with a fine vuluptious tan head which at a closer glance seems to have some spices or something hidden in the head! Cool!
The nose was full of alcohol, raisins, plums, honey, dark cherries, other dark fruits, bananas and cloves. A very nice nose!
The flavor is so complex. Massive amounts of dark fruits, apples, sweetness, a little chocolate and as it warmed the alcohol started to come out. Original Score: 9,4,9,4,17
PaulHegedus (46), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2008 Bottle at Beer Bistro, Toronto, July 2007. Pours a dark reddish brown with a generous foaming head. I smell wonderful aromas of dark dried fruit, apple, caramel. This thing is loaded with flavour, complex: raisin, prune, licorice, sugar, alcohol. oberabcbbsok (679), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 29, 2008 A very nice and good ballanced beer. Tasted on draft as well as on bottle. Fruity and full bodied with a great aftertaste. A must for everybody. Homer321 (73), Rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 I drank this right after a westy 12 b/c i’ve heard it’s as close as you can get without going to the monestary. It is similar, but much more carbonation. nose is of candi sugar and slight alcohol. The high carbonation takes away from the taste. A very thin mouthfeel, though. hints of fruit, but just a tease. phishpond417 (1409), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 28, 2008 Finally- And on draught too! Pours a deep ruby red/mahogany with a large creamy almond coloured head. Aroma is fruity- black cherry, mangoe, brown sugar and raisins. Taste is semi sweet, again notes of dark, overripe fruits- apples, peaches and possilby a little bananna. Cloves and other spice is noticeable in the finish. Well carbonated, great structure holds up well in the mouth. muddy67 (3), Marietta, Georgia, USA does not count Aug 28, 2008 There’s a reason I keep this one on tap at home and the price is totally justified when it hits your tongue. Huge malt aroma and flavor. Sweetness balanced out by high alcohol content and mild hop character. Dark fruits dominate this flavor along with yeasty spiciness. Please don’t drink it ice cold because you’re wasting your money.
