COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

On draft at the Map Room, in a tulip, beautiful chocolate brown with plentiful white head that dissipates to full lacing. Smells fantastic, lots of earthy and fruit tones, delicious, one of the best beers I have had... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge off-white/tan head, fades very quickly. Rich ruby brown colour. First pour is fairly clear, second half is much more murky with yeast sediment. Aroma of plum, dried fruit, raisin, Flavours match but very rich, nice sweetness amplifies the plum, dried fruit, cherry. Slight alcohol in after-taste. Med body, dry finish. Complex and very nice.

Bottle. Brown in colour with creme head. Aroma of malt, caramel, cabdi syrup, dried, fruits like raisins, plums, also hint of cherries and peach. Spicy note on the finish. In taste sweet, caramelly with dried fruits. Full bodied, dry finish with hoppy bitterness. World class quad, must drink for everyone.

Dark ruby, hazy, beautiful thick head. Aroma of dried fruit, port wine, spice, syrup. Medium to full body. Oily. Average carbonation. In flavour notes of dried fruit, port wine, grassy hops. Quaffable, very warming, still no boozy feel. Excellent balance. Delicate bitterness. Very nice

Real dense and toasty with some nutty character. Complex fruits in aroma and taste. For how thick it was the carbonation and palate were great, well balanced.

Small bottle. Medium bodied, creamy. Huge head. Full of strong aromas - plum, raisins, caramel, bread, yeast. Sweet, with gentle bitter finish. Average carbonation which softly bites tongue. Perfect in every sip. One of the most memorable beers to which, due to availability, I like do come back.

dense quad: sticky cane sugar, toasty roasted malts, pungent hops, black truffle, leather, clove, black pepper, stewed beef, vinous heat. no component outweighing the other. like a tight young claret, with everything in the right place, i think my bottle would have loosened with time. one to stick away.

Bottle. Pours dark ruby, low head, a bit of lacing. Lots of ripe sweet fruits in the aroma, port wine taste, but not as heavy. Dark and complex, sweet and still refreshing. What an excellent beer!
