mjs (422), Finland May 14, 2008 (Bottle 0.33l, BBE271212, at Poirotti on 2008-04-25) Dark amber colour. Medium a bit tan-coloured head. Fruity and malty nose. Full and bit acidic palate. Lots of malts in taste. Liquorice and chocolate flavours. Would improve when aged, now too young.
kosko20 (21), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jul 17, 2008 Looks and smells fantastic. Nice, thick head and aromas of fruit and barley. The flavor decent and is smooth in the begining but bites ya in the end. JCastner (6), New York, USA does not count Jul 16, 2008 Pours a dark brown color with an off white medium head that dissipates slowly. Lots of sediment, even for a bottle conditioned Quad. Full bodied. Amazing aroma of brown sugar, cinnamon, butter (diacetyl) and dust. Tastes sweet with a short burst of coffee like bitterness followed by taste of fruit, raisins and a thick bready finish of pumpernickel. Think of this as liquid bread - it’s very filling. I would suggest pairing this with some very sharp cheese. The more I taste the more I like. I will try it again and modify my rating in the near future. ericandersnavy (81), denton, Texas, USA Jul 16, 2008 bottle thanks to metzlers in denton, tx. appearance very impressive with this one. poured a rich amber/copper with an off-white head that lasted forever. last the glass from top to bottom. aroma was banana, spice, and fruit. flavor was fruity with spice and alcohol was present. carbonation was med-high. this was good but not a session beer at all. this was my first quadrupel. grandet (300), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2008 1pt 9.4oz Btl. Nice dark brown pour with a perfect medium fluffy white head that lasted forever. Aroma is very aromatic, with lots of spices and lots of clove. Some banana and other fruits like figs or dates as well. Taste is wonderful and smooth with lots of spice and dark fruit, as well as a nice burn on the way down. Very, very good. mrw1zard (47), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jul 14, 2008 Dark brown with a light tan head that stays for the entire pour. Bitter taste, stronger aftertaste of alcohol than I care for (maybe it was an older bottle?) Not a bad brew, but definitely not a session beer.
