3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2009 A truly superb ale. Excellent head, very smooth, dark, malty with just a hint of fruit. Sweet alcohol taste is there on the finish but not off-putting.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is fruity. Dates. Grapes. Yeasty. Estery.
Appearance is definitely not dark ivory. Its more like red grape color. A red brown sort of thing.
Taste is smooth grape. Dates. Sweet but not as bad as Trappist rouchfort 10 (a good thing) a bit of booze.
Very nice on the palate. Dry. Smooth. Easy going. Medium body.
A very nice beer complex enough but could maybe be a.bit more so. It has a very one note of dates and grapes. A.solid beer I’m glad I tried it but probably will not see another go.

Gekocht bij slijterij ’t Vaatje in Rijnsburg. Erg lekker bier. Zoet, veel alcohol. Krachtige nasmaak die lang blijft hangen. Een van de betere Belgische bieren.

Bottle at Ølbutikken.
Hazy dark brwon. Richa aroma, some sourness to set the saliva running. Fruity. Full flavour, very belgian. Bitter hops, candy sugar. Superb, but the competition is tough today.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2014 Bottle. Pours murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma: alcohol, raisin, dried fruit, bit of wood. Very smooth mouthfeel, initial carbonation smoothes quite fast. Lots of dark fruit in the taste, raisins, bit of honey. A balanced beer with quite a lot going on. Lovely brew!

First saw this bier at a restaurant in Tongeren last year and had to try it. Had to try one more. And one more after that. I’m not into the play-by-play aroma, malt, hops, head, taste, etc. trying to analyze or over analyze every little sip. I just like a good bier. This is one and has become my favorite Belgian.

330cl bottle in a Trappist goblet. No overwhelming aroma, slight hint of raisin. Fantastic deep fruity taste with raisins again coming through. Slight alcohol flavor in the finish. Can only be described as neither sweet nor bitter with a fantastic warming taste and feeling. Certainly lives up to its reputation
