3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 ounce bottle- Poured out a hazy auburn brown with a fairly thick and lasting head. Aroma was hazelnut, apple and cinnamon. First impression was that this ale was just too sweet. The cloying sweetness and floral notes overshadowed an enjoyable subtlety. Too sweet for my taste, but I understand the higher rating on this one.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This quad is a "little brother of the most famous Westvletern 12, with the same hops, same yeast and the same malts, but with much different character:
Pours dark purple haze colour, with tiny creamy, unstable of-white head.
Aroma with mild-low notice of an alcohol, and with strong presence of caramel, candy sugar, grape (muscat), port wine and cloves.
Flavor is similar: alcohol is medium noticable, with taste like port wine. Also are detectable malt notes of caramel, candy sugar, with hints of grape, dried fruits, especially plums, and with some spices, like coriander and cloves.
Malt sweetnees is high, hop bitterness is low, body is soft, and sticky, finish is also sticky.
Very good quad, but still not in the same rang as Westvleteren 12 and Rochefort 10.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fresh bottle from Craft Beer Base.
L: pours a very dark red, mahogany, with a huge fluffy tan head that takes ages to settle and leaves nice lacing.
S: a champagne whiff, with dark fruits and citrus beneath.
T: Rich and complex, slightly boozy. Made to be sipped.
F: awesome mouthfeel, creamy at the start, full-bodied, nicely carbonated, and a lovely warmth running long.
O: World-class, delicious, a wonderful quad.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
brown cloudy beer, minimal creamy head
Aroma: sweet fruits, biscuits, hint of chocolate, this specific quadrupel esters, almost like a bubble gum.
taste: medium to high sweetness. Flavours similiar as in aroma.
Palate: medium to full body, dry alcohol on finish. Low to medium saturation.
Overall: good, sweet, really pleasant beer. Altough Rochefort 10 was way better, St Bernardus 12 is flatter in aroma and taste, and lower carbonated. Also seems to be way more sweet.

Botella. Color café. Casi opaca.
No demasiada espuma
No mucho aroma. Pasas y caramelo principalmente
En boca, mucho cuerpo. Muy equilibrada en todos los sentidos. El alcohol disimulado, sólo se nota más al final.
De cualquier modo esperaba más matices para su fama.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from 2011. Can’t believe I’ve never rated this! Maybe not the most representative drinking though. Aroma is a bit more boozy than a fresh one. Rich and fruity. Taste is similar but also has that yeasty malty ovaltine thing that I’d expect. Very easy drinking with a little spritziness at the start then a long fading finish. Little booze burn but very nice stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Frothy light brown head that diminishes fast. Murky brown body.
Caramel, coffee and nutty malt aroma. Average creamy yeast touch. And licorice of course.
Medium body with soft thin carbonation. Very pleasant. And moderately bitter.
Long and moderate sweet and bitter taste. Touch of minerals.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Brown, muddy look with beige head. Aroma is intense, with lots of brown sugar but also somehow fresh. Taste is balanced at first, with some spices, dark sugar taste but without the sweetness. It slowly builds up to a bittersweet finish. Quite easy to drink for 10% ABV but the alcohol is a bit present in the taste. Carbonation is on the high side, something I don’t really enjoy for high ABV beers. Overall it’s a good representation of the style but not really my type of beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Raisins, dark liquor aroma. A bit of caramel. Taste is way sweet. Rich toasty dark malts... bit of alcohol warmth. Stone fruit. Just on the edge of too sweet. Pours a cloudy brown with a big bubbled head. Lightish bkdy
