COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Dark brown with a white rocky head, Aromas of prunes and cocoa in the nose. Very nice texture, but a bit grapey in terms of taste. Like the Prior 8 much better.

This is something else, one of my favourites. Rich and soft taste, slightly sweet and floral. Mixes of many spices. You feel the alcohol in the end in a wonderful away. A truly great beer.

After drinking more of them, I really have to change my opnion of it. It’s not the same as the westvleteren XII, but beers like these make drinking beer funny.

Bottle. Dark brown, foggy with a big frothy light brown head. Aroma has yeast, ripe fruit, raisin and wood. Taste has nut, orange, wood and malt. Surprisingly strong carbonation. Well-rounded light aftertaste. Very easy going dispite the high alcohol content. Characteristic.

33cl bottle in a st. Bernardus glass. I really enjoy this beer. It has a touch of champagne and alcohol and the yeast is great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A beautiful pour .... an opaque dark chocolate and tar color with a tobacco stained ivory head with fine bubbles that hang ... giving off a spicy and malty flower aroma. The sticky smokey malt resonates with a subtle holding bite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Currently my favorite beer. Smooth and consistent, alcohol is hidden very well.

The beer is a dark but somewhat transparent brown. It’s taste is amazing slightly sweet with fruit but also balanced with dark cocoa and coffee notes. All around great beer.

Dried fruits, plum, coffee liquier and sweet cake on nose. After worming it’s a festival of deep and sweet malty flavours. Cocoa, coffee, essence of plums with added herbal and cinamon spices. Universe in a small bottle!
