3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle. Dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. Yeasty, fruity aroma of black bread, dried fruits and brown sugar. Flavor starts off sweet, with some caramel and dried fruits before quickly turning dry with lots of yeasty, bready notes. Alcohol is quite apparent, but never overpowering. Very enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the corked, caged 750 ml. bottle. The pour is brown to ruby red with a huge fluffy beige head that lingers a long time. The aromas are of dark malts, breaded malts, Belgian sugar, mild spice, dark fruit, plum, and a little alcohol. Medium body. The flavor is similar with dark fruit, molasses, raisins, and a bitter hop bite at the end. Some alcohol burn.

Dark brown color with large tan head. Aroma and flavor have nice strong malts, spices, and deep rich fruit and vinous notes. Cmplex and full bodied, yet balanced and very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
While subtle, the aroma is inviting. Belgian yeast with hints of citrus, fruit, and a lovely funk. A thin tan head producing no lacing, sits atop a dark amber pour. The taste is overall slightly sweet, but very pleasing. Flavors of Belgian yeast, candy sugar, and fruit prevail. A touch of grain and alcohol are noted in the finish and aftertaste. Medium body and soft carbonation. A nice oily mouthfeel. Overall, I enjoyed this beer (its a nice sipper by the fireplace!) and look forward to its appearance next year.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Shared from a corked big brown bottle into a tulip glass. It poured a hazy deep reddish brown colour with huge beige head of spritzy little bubbles, everlasting with sheets of pretty Belgian lace. Aromas of risign bread dough, sour lemonade, black pepper, clove. Bready flavours too, sourdough, crisp grains, toast, with firm hoppy bitterness. Hints of raisins, dried cranberries and cherries. Toffee, sticky pudding, boozy fruitcake. Some definite tartness, with a bright port wine or coffee-like acidity. Hints of harmonious holiday spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, clove, though those could be entirely from the yeast. Light body but well-rounded mouthfeel, intense carbonation, long-lasting bittersweet aftertastes. Complex and delicious.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown pour with a massive head with excellent lacing that lasts forever. Nose is of dark fruit, raisins and dates, against a malt backbone with a hint of spice. Light medium body and very well carbonated. Alcohol is well hidden with dark fruit and malt flavors. Spice is present, but subdued. Clean finish with a slight alcoholic bitterness. Not as flavorful or smooth as Gouden Carolus Noel, which in my opinion, is the best of the Belgian Christmas ales.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours brown with a tan head. Taste dark fruits, lightly sweet, boozy. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2013 75cl bottle. Sweet and spicy aroma with hints of fruits and yeast. High carbonation, kind of like a chimay. Really refreshing even though it is sweet as well. Quite boozy with tastes of dates, a hint of cherries and a lot of spices. Great palate with a nice balance.
