330ml bottle. Trembling Madness Drinks Shop, York. Hazy amber. Thin, bubbly, tan head. Nutty, spicy, dark fruit. Sweet, cakey malts. Dried stone fruits. Figs. Dates. Mixed spice. Very festive. Taste is fruity dry. Lots of chewy sweetness. Just a hint of bitter at the end. Feels way under the ABV. Too much carbonation at first, but settles down after half an hour, at which point it matches the beer better. Finishes chewy sweet. Fruity dry. Very nice.

Tap at Muddy Pig. Tulip glass. Sediment filled, hazy cola like color. Sweet aroma...almost a dark fruit with elements of earthiness. Taste is super smooth. Dark, tart fruits and hints of cocoa. Almost a milkshake in the mouth feel. Some sourness expected from high alcohol Belgian ales. Too rich not to savor. Ill awesomely seek out again. Merry Christmas to YOU, St. Bernardus!

Fruity, spicy, some caramels, the yeast strain seems to do a lot of the heavy listing. Almost a little tart from just how fruity it is. Maybe my favorite St. Bernardus release?

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours deep dark brown with a sweet malt and caramel aroma. Taste is moderately sweet, with soothing dark elements.. brilliantly balanced and hugely enjoyable from beginning to end. Found it hard to differentiate between this and the Abt12, apparently more spice in this.. I guess Ill have to try them both again to compare. Outstanding beer anyway and reaffirms St Bernardus as making some of the finest Belgian beer in my opinion.

A delicious beer if not exactly my style, as its fairly sweet. A treat for Christmas, nonetheless. Dark cloudy brown with white head and beautiful lacing in the specialized glass. Aroma is booze, raisin, hint of funk. Taste is molasses, currant, raisin, a range of sweet dark fruit, medium spice. Finish is dry enough not to cloy. Would be great with a caramel dessert.

Very, very sweet. Cloyingly syrupy with notes of brown sugar, apricots, and spices. Not a bad Christmas beer but definitely too sweet for me.

Finally, there we are, the perfect Christmas ale! In the glass the deep amber body looks slightly hazy and it has a huge, beige, long-lived head that ends up as a thin layer and foamy patches on the walls of the glass. Sweet, fruity and strong aroma of caramel, dark dried fruits, dark candi sugar, Belgian yeast and a general spicy feel. In the mouth I also get lots of caramel, notes of anise seeds and well integrated pleasant alcohol. Despite the moderate sweet taste and lots of sweet caramel, a moderate to light bitterness and the spices and yeast ensure that the brew feels crisp and drinkable. Close to full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Brilliant stuff!
