| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Bottle. It smells fruity, very malty and light sour. The very small light brown head disappears fast, the body is clear and red-brown. The taste is light fruity, malty, but not really strong. The finish is long and mild, light bitter. It is lively-creamy, the body is light to medium strong and with a lot of carbonation. Rciesla (3565), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a light brune body with a huge yellow head. Yeasty beer, with banana, raisin, toffee tones. Chewy and nutty with caramel bread y notes and
a mild warming. Another great offering from the monks. Vaiz (37), Netherlands

Rich, full taste of wood, spices and some citrus fruits. Good carbonation. Berley31 (185), New Brunswick, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 13, 2009 A: Poured with a large, off-white head.... slowly diminished down to about 1/2-finger. Fair lacing through drinking. Body is a muddy brown and very cloudy, with no particles noticeable.
S: Light yeast, cloves, and fruity sweetness (bananas?).
T: Very nice flavor... the yeast and breadiness is noticeable first, then the fruity sweetness of bananas comes through. Finishes with a very light bitterness, barely noticeable at all. Average duration for the flavor.
M: Body is light-to-medium bodied with a very creamy texture. Lots of fizzy carbonation that almost burns the tongue.
D: Extremely drinkable, a very consistent dubbel that I really enjoyed. The carbonation was almost offensive, but didn’t quite get there. Otherwise, very good. MesandSim (5802), London, Greater London, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2009 A Mes rate. Tap at Paradise Fest. I was amazed to find I’d not rated this one. I drink it in Quinns while watching the Mighty Reds regularly. Thank god for an iPhone in the middle of Grand Place madness. Hazy amber with an impressive white head. Excellent balance of herbal hoppage and sweet caramel yeast. Good citric notes up front and some excellent spice. Typical Bernie character. Superbly made. Great stuff and effortlessly drinkable. I was chatting to some new and very random friends. I nearly nailed this before I had even started rating! sound67 (187), Offenbach, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2009 330ml bottle, as pictured.
Bottle-conditioned dubbel pours a hazy copper with a huge, fluffy off-white head. Good retention, decent lacing.
Aroma is of yeast, malt and citrusy hops, with some alcohol peeping through. Medium carbonation, smooth but tickling mouth feel.
Taste is grapefruit, roasted malt and a wee bit of aniseed. Not too sweet, with a nicely bitter-and-sour hoppy finish. Slightly alcoholic after taste, but not too obtrusively (particularly compared to some other abbey dubbels and tripels).
For an abbey dubbel, this brew appears to be rather refreshing and sessionable - not too dangerously so, at 6.2 % abv. Quite delicious, and not too heavy. Will drink again.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2009 bottle - poured a torbid toffee color, creamy head. Aroma prunes, raisins, dates and spice, hint of alcohol. The flavor is more of the same with the spiciness increasing as the beer warms, the finish was just a bit more bitter than I would have expected.
Good dubbel. rustychiles (1016), Mesa, Arizona, USA
