Poured a clear but fairly dark body with good lasting, tight white head. Not big on the aroma, notice the alcohol and then some drieds fruit if you are looking. Taste is smooth, malt driven with a touch of spice, simple but very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours murky copper dark brown with a mostly diminishing white head. Aroma: clove, nuts, molasses, alcohol, raisins. Definitely a perfect blend between malts and fruits. Medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel. Aftertaste is mostly bitter dry with lingering sweetness and alcoholwarming.

Poured deep cherry red, almost opaque, with a generous two-finger head that left a nice creamy film and excellent lacing. Malty aroma with dark fruit like raisins and plums. Same pleasant fruitiness is featured on the tongue, with some molasses, caramel and black pepper. Medium to full body, silky smooth mouthfeel, lively carbonation, and wonderful dark fruit aftertaste.

Nice dark brown head, lighter flavor than the Prior 8, but just as tasty. Quite malty, with a subtle hint of dark fruits, carmel, and just a little vanilla. Another winner from St. Bernardus!

Dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma of raisins and malt. Medium-mouthed, flavor of raisins, caramel. A junior version of the Prior - in strength, not in flavor. Very nice.

Pours a hazy, muddy brown with a smaller off-white head that dwindles down quite a bit. Lacing is mild. Aromas of yeast, spice, and alcohol. Taste is very tart and a bit sour. Lots of molasses, unsweetened cocoa, toffee, caramel malts, dark fruits (raisins, plums), and black pepper. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Aftertaste is very dry. A decent dubbel and a very complex Belgian. But this is nowhere near my favorite for the style.

I’m not going to even go in depth with this one. Basically, think "St. Bernardus quality" in a brew that allows you to have 3 or more without getting completely plastered. At its core this is a watered down Belgian - and I mean that in the best way possible.

Sampled on draught at the Brasserie V in MAdison: Pours a deep dark copper colour with a huge beige head. Aroma is pleasent, very fruity- like bright fruits and roasted malts. Taste is full slightly citrusy and yeasty but balanced and rich.
