scotch4281 (39), Hollywood, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2008 A very good beer. Almost tastes like a juice, but deeper. The brown color is a bit foggy, but it still tastes pretty good. I drank it out of an official St. Bernardus Glass. I am a true fan of Belgian Ales. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pours hazy brown with two finger head. Nose of plum, figs, molasses, some spicy yeast, and caramel. Flavors are quite sweet- lots of plum and raisin with some spice and brown sugar sweetness. Palate is medium bodied with a semi-dry finish. Came up a little short in my book, but tasty just the same. BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 22, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, balanced, cloudy, good head, good brew twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jul 20, 2008 bottle. Pours a dark, opaque brown, big chunky off white head that sticks around throughout. Aromas of raisins, black currants, and a cloyingly sweet maltiness. Flavors blend very well... starts with a light touch of floral bitterness, heavy raisin and fig flavors, and some yeast notes. Very even on the palate, a decent amount of active carbonation, and a nice, smooth clean finish. Very good brew. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottled. Poured a dark bround w/symmetrical and lasting head. Some raisins & rum aroma. Taste similar w/yeats caramel malts. Pretty good. ubamartian (155), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown. light two finger tight foamy head. Aroma is of pizza dough with a bit of earthy dark fruits. The flavor is even better, dark fruits, spices, a bit of a bread flavor, caramel, and malt. Medium body, has a good smooth feel. Overall this is a very good beer. Not as heavy as many, and more balanced flavor. Suttree (2702), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 14, 2008 Muddy brown, thin beige head. aroma of red aples and molasses, mixed with a bit of rum. Flavor is molasses and fruit, like maybe figs or prunes. Surprisng amount of alcohol heat for 6.7% beer. Nice earthy, rough finish. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep brown with some light pouring through and a two finger or so head that is fairly dense. Has aromas that are woody and nutty with a bit of bread dough, yeast and spice. Flavor is a little different, however, as it mixes dark fruit, sawdust, allspice and rye bread. Thought this would be much different, although this is pretty darn acceptable.
