Swiezy (21) - POLAND - SEP 27, 2014
Aroma: notes of carmel, crust of dark bread, risins Appearance: plenty of foam, small and middle bubbles very stable, beer is dark brown and cloudy, good lacing. Taste: crust of dark bread, alcohol is good hidden, but is perceptible, notes of raisins and caramel , bitterness is low, sweetness is medium. Is sum: This beer is quite ok, but it’s still far from good. I don’t remember this beer as a something special and worth to drink again.

chinchill (1957) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 24, 2014
11.2 oz bottle with a best by this week date of 19 Sept. 2014. Allowed to warm to about 45F then served in a St. Bernardus snifter. . Poured cloudy dark brown into the snifter, with a sudsy, tan head that left a full coat of lacing.on the glass with each tip. The rich aroma is spicy, fruity (dark), yeasty and malty, with a faint hint of over-ripe banana . T: Complex, with a feast of flavor components culminating in a lingering aftertaste of dark fruits, dark bread and roasted grains. Suggestions of raisins, dates, prune, apple, caramel, banana, allspice and other spices. Excellent balance of sweet and bitter with a touch of sour. M: medium-full body with lively, and medium-high carbonation. Creamy smooth after the carbonation dies down. O: a must-try Belgian: a rich, unique and complex dubbel meant to be slowly sipped and savored, with different nuances noticed on every sip.

Bottle from the Bierzwerg webshop. Clear deep nut golden body verging on mahogany. Light brown, dense large head. Slow gusher. Wooden rock sugar, dates, raisins and band aid on the nose. Full bodied. Sweet furniture polish, oak, rubber, malts and bitterness to balance. High carbonation. Light astringent. Dry tongue. This beer works way better for me as I swirl out most of the carbonation. As it heats it becomes more malty, balanced and full flavored and a beer I would gladly drink again.

Transfer from BA review on 6-15-13- Poured from bottle into a chalice glass Appearance- Pours an orange-copper color with a light haze and a small off white head. The head fades rather fast leaving only a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is of heaviest of a dark brown bread smell mixed with plenty of darker fruit aromas of prune, cherry and raisin. Along with these smells comes a light yeasty and caramel aroma as well. Taste- The taste begins with a bready and darker fruit flavor of raisin and prune. As the flavor advances some banana and yeast mixed with a bit of a caramel sweetness also enter the taste. The banana is joined by some other lighter fruits of apple and citrus as the flavor moves more toward the end lightening the taste slightly. At the end, some bitterness of a earthy hop flavor joins the taste leaving a nice somewhat crisper flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel-The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. Both are appropriate for the style and act as a nice medium for the fruity and yeasty as well as lightly hoped and bready flavors of the brew. Overall- This brew is a quite tasty dubbel overall with a very nice flavor profile and a good drinking feel.

Hazy brown body with a medium but then diminishing off white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy, yeasty. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitterness. Light to medium body, thin to oily texture. Light astringent finish. Not the best I had from St. Bernardus but still a really good beer.
