This name became a reference. This beer is mostly pointed out with its product name: “a Paterke”. This “Paterke” is a chestnut coloured dark beer with a high fermentation (6.7 alcohol content) and a full taste.

33cl bottle from Dranken Pauwels. Poured in St. Bernardus glass (25cl edition). Nose: typical St Bernardus nose (their yeast?), fruity (plums), malty & sweet. Taste: sweet, candied sugar, malty, little bit of roast (burned). Aftertaste not that long lasting, lightly bitter and hints of wood. Not their best beer (IMHO) but still a great beer from a great brewery!

Een goed donker biertje met goed wat smaak aan. Geen van hun toppers, maar stelt zeker niet teleur

33cl bottle at home. Clearish dark brown with a slightly off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sweet with herbal bitterness. Flowers, brown sugar, herbs, caramel and dark fruits. An ok dark brew.

11.2oz bottle poured into St. Bernardus goblet. Aged, with a 18-12-14 best by date. Pours a murky brown color with a lot of sediment. A medium sized head that dissipates to a thin crown with some lacing left behind. Smell is of caramel malt, clove, and yeasty with dark fruit esters. Taste is heavy on the malt and dark fruits, mainly plums and figs. A good amount of spice from the yeast and a bit on the sweet side, but not overly, nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is medium-light, smooth and creamy. Overall, an excellent dubbel. Easy drinking and delicious.

Molt bona cervesa del estil Abbey Ale, tot i que, no arriba a ser com una bona quàdruple. És molt recomanable.

Pours brown with small off white. Nutty aroma with something metallic. Taste is nutty with a hint of dark fruits. Good brown ale.

A dark amber/brown beer, slightly cloudy and well carbonated. It has a thin foamy head, a good swirl will produce an abundance of surface foam that’s pleasing to look at. A smell a complex malt bill that is sweet with candied sugar. Drinks with warming alcohol sweet malts and candied plums. A thin light mouthfeel. A good beer with lower more acceptable abv’s meaning that I can drink a few, no problem.
