MrChopin (622), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 6, 2008 Pours a transparent copper, lighter than the 8, and with a white head that evaporates quickly. Scent dominated by incredibly strong lemons with grass and sweetness, coupled with slight hints of roasted malt. A very drinkable beer, but somewhat simple in flavor. There are cheaper dubbels that I prefer.
Snojerk321 (1919), San Diego, California, USA May 4, 2008 11oz bottle. Not my favorite beer from Bernardus, not bad though. Lots of Belgian yeast for both aroma and flavor. Some hints of nutmeg, dark fruits and sweet malt. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA May 4, 2008 The usuall St.B yeasty smell but with a nutty aroma. Dark brown color. Has tastes of wood, spices, yeast, nuts and maybe a little fruit. Not a thick feel like i was expecting. lucke13 (90), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 28, 2008 33cl bottle. Amber-brown colour with a nice creamy head. Sweet, malty and somewhat fruity aroma with a hint of chocolate. Great sweet caramel malt flavor with fruit and some chocolate. Semi-bitter aftertaste. Not quite on par with their Abt 12, but a very good beer nontheless.
Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Apr 26, 2008 Bottle, from Noel Cuveliers, Abele. Russet brown, dense tan cap. Comforting warm spiced ginger cake aroma, golden raisins, banana. Peppery light caramel flavor, fairly aggressive carbonation. Softer and more delicate palate after swirling out some of the carbonation. A little cough-med mouth coating finish. (Not a bad thing.) georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA Apr 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque dark amber with a small cream head. Spice aroma. Roasted, spicy aroma. Very carbonated, in fact a little too much. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Apr 18, 2008 Nice carmel brown color, slight cloudiness. Soft, creamy, long lasting head. Aroma reminds me of a pleasant memory of the smell of a baby’s bid, splatter with fruity baby foods like pear and banana. Flavor is of darker and sourer fruits than aroma. Soft feel, aftertaste is a continuation of original taste and so very pleasant. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Apr 13, 2008 RE-tasted. Bottle, 33 cl.
Light haze red-brown color, with beige head.
Aroma light roasted malts, fruits, sweet. Medium body.
Taste it’ like more than just 6 %,
good in balance, bit sweet, malts, fruits, some hopsbitterness.
And dry finish. NICE.
