CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Feb 29, 2008 On tap at Zeno’s Pub - State College, PA. Lightly carameled and toast aroma. Sweet. Pours a rather dark mahogany with red corner. Fresh line of tan above. Flavor is a nicely dry, crisp light roast and sweet coffee fruit. There’s some round malt character, good belgian spiciness and calming herbal qualities. Fresh and rounded. Delightful. Mineral backend. Light hop crispness. Body might be a touch thin. Smack is delightful in sherry sugars and long oak qualities. A nice beer. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 20, 2008 Cloudy brownish color with a big thick head. Malty smell is really nice. Thick body makes the beer almost crawl rather than flow into your mouth. A pleasing taste as well.
kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Feb 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber that darkens towards the center of the glass. Big off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma is floral, cloves and malt. A bit sour tasting fruity malt flavor. Foamy medium bodied with a lingering tartness. Hudspart (371), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Feb 16, 2008 Bottle: Very good belgian. Pours yellow with a small head. Fruity aroma and flavor. Would drink again. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Feb 13, 2008 Tea colored with a thin tan head. Smells of cotton candy- spicy and yeasty. Med body with a creamy mouthfeel. Weak flavor of sweet and spicy earthy malts.11706 jmm1 (108), Andorra Feb 10, 2008 From 33cl bottle, best before 12/01/2010. Hazy dark amber body with a long lasting foamy beige head leaving a nice lacing. Honey, cherry, apple and vanilla in the nose. Sour attack in mouth, banana and spices developing at the middle with a dry subdued finish slightly hoppy leaving a roasted malt aftertaste. Smooth full body with a medium carbonation acts well with the first mouth approach, but sparkles too much at finish. Still this is a great beer, complex but easily drinkable, refreshing but filling, which deserves high grades and multiple tastings. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 31, 2008 Poured a thick bodied amber with a two finger foam top. Dough, bread, dried fruit, and oak flavors all in each sip. Just like many other people said in their ratings this is an above average Belgian Ale. Not cheap either, but well worth the price. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jan 30, 2008 Pours deep amber into a Trappist glass. Fluffy off-white pancake head with excellent retention. Mild pit fruit aromas. Crisp with figs and plums. Dry finish.
