| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2008 From 33cl bottle, best before 12/01/2010. Hazy dark amber body with a long lasting foamy beige head leaving a nice lacing. Honey, cherry, apple and vanilla in the nose. Sour attack in mouth, banana and spices developing at the middle with a dry subdued finish slightly hoppy leaving a roasted malt aftertaste. Smooth full body with a medium carbonation acts well with the first mouth approach, but sparkles too much at finish. Still this is a great beer, complex but easily drinkable, refreshing but filling, which deserves high grades and multiple tastings. JFGrind (1350), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Poured a thick bodied amber with a two finger foam top. Dough, bread, dried fruit, and oak flavors all in each sip. Just like many other people said in their ratings this is an above average Belgian Ale. Not cheap either, but well worth the price. thornecb (1751), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Fragrant aroma, smells to me like an abbey-style ale should smell. Sweet and inviting. The taste is sweet, caramel, and somewhat alive on the tongue, but still muted. The palate is bright, not heavy or sticky. Nephilium (547), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Hints of nuts, vanilla, and sugar in the aroma. Pours a reddish-brown with a huge white head. Nice creamy mouthfeel, flavors of dark fruits are predominant. This could be a nice introduction to Belgian beers for a newcomer. Goodgrief (1148), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2008 April 2006 - I’m not getting the hating on this beer. C’mon. Beer poured dark rusty brown (more yellow brown than the red brown of the typical Belgian) with one finger head. Thin layer of bubbles kept me company the whole time. At the pour, the alcohol nose came through the most, as well as the flavor. Also, felt highly carbonated at the pour. The character really changed as it warmed. The fruityness was subdued, as a rich caramel like undertone emerged as it warmed. Also, the mouthfeel got less bubbly and more silky smooth. I was liking it. Doesn’t have the "wow" factor of the 12, but the monk is still smiling, and I still know why. SoLan (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Brown. Modest tan head. Dark fruits, dark candi sugar, burnt caramel/toffee, and dough in the aroma. Same flavors. Medium/full body, too much carbonation, doesn’t allow the beer to settle on the palate. Decent.
