TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Dec 18, 2007 Cloudy dark brown with a tan head that completely laces down the glass. The beer is too cloudy to observe the carbonation usually associated with this style. Heavily malted aroma with dominant spice smells of cinnamon and vanilla and even ginger. Bannana rounds out this heavily scented brew. Taste is harper than I expected and yes I taste an strong ginger before the malt comes along. The palate is heavier than most other belgiums and not nearly as carbonated. The sharp biting taste mey be unique, but not the best of breed. dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Dec 17, 2007 11.2 oz bottle purchased in a variety pack at Shangys. Poured a deep dark brown with a nice size foamy white head. Yeasty aroma with slight notes of vinegar and soap. Thin bodied with WAY TOO much carbonation. This beer is super carbonated and if it was a cork and caged bottle I probably could of used the cork as a weapon. Acidic chocolate and citrus flavors. I drank this one while watching some crappy christmas specials but then again this beer is just a few steps above being crappy itself. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 9, 2007 Bottle poured into trappist glass- poured transparent amber in appearance, lacing off white head, moderate carbonation. Aroma of yeast and fruit notes. Hits the mouth with carbonation, a thin body, malt notes. Finish is mildly bitter, not from hops, but from carbonation. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Dec 7, 2007 Brown-copper colour, medium head. Aroma has dark fruits and spices. Flavour is of dry fruits, raisins and plums. Dry and sweet finish. Very decent. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 3, 2007 Updated: Jul 12, 20080.33l, bb 23 04 10. Slightly cloudy, dark copper-brown with a huge head that lasts forever. Aroma is spicy toffee with dates. Flavors of rum and raisins, earthy root-spiced caramel, dried wood, and some slight pepper-spiced hops. Sorta smooth, light-medium body is dry and tingly on the finish. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Dec 3, 2007 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a brown amber with a big but fading tan head and malt and caramel in the nose. taste is both malty and a bit hoppy like a pilsener and sweet (ripe fruits, caramel and brown sugar) with a hint of roasted malts like a belgian strong ale. A nice finish that has caramel and brown sugar at first and than a long taste of hops. A good beer, simple as that! Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Dec 2, 2007 Color is a deep honey brown, translucent and attractive. Aroma is strongly malty with a hint of banana. Malt dominates the flavor, which has a ribbon of hop bitterness and undertones of banana and cinnamon. Texture is fairly smooth with a good bit of tingle. Finish is pleasant; malty aftertaste has a decidedly fruity tone. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2007 Poured from the 11.2 oz bottle to a dark reddish brown with a medium off-white head that lingered for the entire drink (which I enjoyed for well over 45 minutes.) Aroma was a nice strong blend of malty dark fruits....mostly dates, raisins, grapes and black cherry. Mouthfeel was full and slightly tingly, and the flavor was a perfect continuation of the nose.
This beer was tasty at the outset, and like many Belgian Ales, became better as it sat and warmed. A most enjoyable beer.
