jfenglish (198), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 25, 2007 Updated: Dec 7, 200711.2 oz bottle. Creamy lingering head sitting atop muddy brown ale. Faint aroma, much less than I would have expected. Sweet with some raisin. Even after leaving the beer mellow for 10 minutes, the carbonation was surprisingly overbearing. Some raisin and licorice flavors, but admittedly just too much carbonation in here to get all the other nuances of flavor. Still a good beer, but nothing exceptional (unlike the 12). ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 25, 2007 Bottled at the Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Deep reddish brown with a smooth vreamy off-white head. Fruity and yeasty aroma with plums and dark berries. Medium bodied and smooth. Good balance with a dry finish. saxo (3516), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Nov 22, 2007 Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is hazy dark amber. Aroma and taste are yeast and fruits. Aroma of yeast, malts, dark fruit, citrus...flavour is quite similar with a nice and thick mouthfeel. Quite sweet and fruity with a big body on it. Cherries and apples show up in the middle of the swallow. Complex and drinkable. I love the St. Bernardus beers. mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Nov 14, 2007 bottle 11 oz.: pours a deep caramel brown with an off white cream head. aroma of yest, spice, some fruit slight cherry. hints of vanilla also very enjoyable. flavour is malty with yeast, slight dark fruit, some bread and a small amount of the cherry. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Nov 8, 2007 Pour is a very dark brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity with some wine like qualities. Flavor is and a touch of sweet fruit with some candi sugar and molasses. Finish is dry and sweet. A tasty beer but not much of a flavor profile to put this one into the stellar caregory. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Nov 1, 2007 Very nice beer. Served to me much colder than I am used to but this beer held up well. Pours a reddish brown color with a nice beige fluffy head. Smells like fruits and wheat. Tastes of sweet fruit and malt and the finish is of sour apples. Great beer. jeremytoni (1070), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2007 From bottle poured brown with lots of off-white head. Nice flavor of malt and hops with a smooth finish.
