Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 9, 2006 Bottle. Off-white lasting head. Hazy dark amber body. Fruity honey caramel aroma. Sweet caramel flavor with almost no bitterness. bgoguen (53), Colorado, USA Jun 8, 2006 Great. I like everything this brewer makes. Great Abbey ales with loads of good flavor. I may have liked the Abt 12 and Prior 8 a little more, but it’s so hard to judge. They all have great qualities. tsp (113), Denmark Jun 6, 2006 (Bottle) I agree with Poperinge, the Pater 6 somewhat seems like a watery Abt 12. This isn’t a bad thing though, as the Pater 6 is still quite tasteful and delicious.<!-- /br -->The beer pours cloudy brown with offwhite creamy head. Notes of honey, spicy herbs, figs, molasse & hops combine to perfection and actually makes this beer very enjoyable! eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 3, 2006 Yum, this was some good stuff, although not what I was expecting. If Smithwick’s went Belgian, this is what it would taste like. Nice honest bitter finish to a malty (some caramel) and slightly burnt base. Only light candy sugar and spicing was present and this one was bready and yeasty. The pour was nice red-brownish color with a small but creamy head that didn’t change for the entire drink. Bart (1625), Vosselaar, Belgium May 30, 2006 Brown-red coloured, some carbonation with a large off-white head. Fruity, malty and caramel aroma, light sweet and nice balanced. Full creamy taste. Finish is sweet with a light bitter touch caramel and a little alcohol. When the yeast of the bottom of the bottle is poored out, more hazey brown colour and a deeper dough yeasty aroma, rather long aftertaste. NIce and good beer. TrappistMike (11), Germany May 28, 2006 A good beer...but too much of a bread aroma to make it a GREAT beer. The taste was smooth and full and about what I expected but just too much of a sourdough smell for me.
This beer is not common on tap nor is it in broad distrubution. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 25, 2006 330 ml bottle poured a clear copper brown with a large lasting amber head. Aromas of bread, spices, fruitiness and yeast. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, clove light fruit [banana] and toffee with a smooth sweet finish. Beaver (588), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA May 23, 2006 Updated: Oct 13, 200611.2 oz bottle, best before 8/8/08. Pours a tea color with a large but kind of fizzy off white head that retains well.
The aroma is metallic bananas, bready malt, yeast and a little clove.
The flavor is pretty mild. It’s some bready malt and sweet nuttiness with some very subdued spices and a little lightly metallic light bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a little harsh carbonation.
Overall, a little on the bland side, but the more I drank of it, the more I started to enjoy it.
