11.2oz bottle pours dark amber with a creamy offwhite head that stays well and laces the sides of the trappist glass. Aroma is mostly yeast, also notes of raisins, caramel, and cloves. Flavor is nice raisins, caramel, lots of yeast, some candy sugar, and some cloves. Palate is light airy and smooth to drink with a nice dry finish. Pretty nice..

Pours dark ruby with thin, mostly maintained off-white head. True to its heritage, this beer leaves resilient Belgian lacing. Aroma of raisins, plums, cloves, and bubble gum. Taste begins with sweet caramel and plums, there is a brief but intense chewy/malty note, and the beer fades away leaving a trail of fruity esters. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and viscous with high carbonation. This beer has candi sweetness and caramelized wort sweetness. The yeast would dominate this beer if it were not so wonderfully balanced by the toasted malts. Impressive balance and complexity, quite delicious!

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange-brown with an average size fizzy off-white head. Nice sweet aroma of malt, yeast, spices, fruit and alcohol. Flavour of bready malt, yeast, brown sugar, fruit, spices and alcohol. Speaking of alcohol, I found it a little too noticeable for a beer that’s only 6.7%. Considering how great most St. Bernardus beers are the flavour was a bit of a letdown. The finish is quite fizzy, there’s lots of carbonation. Full bodied. A decent Belgian Ale.

weak orange/lemon peel, spiced aroma, high carbonation, chocolatey/yeasty finish, warms in back of throat, alcohol taste is even throughout, pretty good, still like the 12 better

Dark brown with a small head that thins quickly. Smells of licorice and toffee. The taste contains toffee, bananas and a hint of coffee. Extremely subtle and gentle, it doesn’t overpower the palate. Finish is slightly bitter but not bad.

Vinous, sweet grape, anise and caramel and the slightest little bit of peppery spice. Hazy amber, brown with a thinning, off-white head. Great chewy licorice, dried fruit (raisins) and caramel and a bit of brown sugar. Very yummy, much like the 12, but not as strong or rich. The finish has a slight earthy twist. Sweet, almost dry on the palate and fairly full bodied. Thanks to Brigadier for sharing this bottle.

Dark brown hazy beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of yeast and liquorice with malt in the background somewhere. Taste begins like tiramisu: sweet sponge soaked in alcohol with some coffee notes. Then comes sourness before a slight bitterness. But it’s all very subdued, restrained and gentle.
