Nose is rich with dark fruits and high crystal (80-120) malts. The palate certainly does not disappoint, with wonderful notes of raison, silightly burnt candy, and a nice spritzy carbonation. The finish is a great blend of sweet and dry. jumpjet2k (145), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a medium tan head with some lacing. Medium amber in color. Somewhat thin, carbonated mouthfeel. Flavor is somewhat malty and plenty spicy. Not bad. finol (486), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

Plum-greyish colour with a smal head. A lot like the 8 but with a thiner (to thin) body. Some sweet flavour with a resemblance with Listerine... hirigalzkar (563), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle. This is very much alike St. Bernadus Prior 8. It smells the same but with less power. The taste is a little more spicy. CapnCascade (116), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours cloudy brown, hint of ruby, thin white head with moderate retention and minimal lacing. Floral, fruity aroma, lots of apples and a slight hint of spice but also some mustiness where I could do without. Flavour is overwhelmed to an extent by aggressive carbo though some mild spiciness does come through. Mouthfeel is thin and domintated by carbonation, reminds me of soda water. Bleh. Not sure whether it was the bottle or the beer, but I wasn’t sold. mgermani (864), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours a cloudy chestnut brown with a thin head with half-decent retention and minimal lacing. Grainy vegetal (oat bran?) aroma, damp sawdust with just a hint of sweetness underneath. Unusual! Taste is odd as well - vaguely sweet with light toasted grains, some diacetyl, nearly no finish whatsoever. Body is quite good, though, despite any other shortcomings - very very creamy, if a bit thin, and plenty of carbonation. I really don’t like the damp grain taste of this beer, it’s odd. If it were marketed as such it would be fine, but as a basic Belgian ale it’s a direction into which I have no wish to foray. Gabler (86), , New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2009 Tap. Poured dark reddish brown. Aroma and flavor were well balanced roasty malts and yeast. Lacks complexity and was lighter than I imagined. Overall though, very nice beer. scrizzz (1263), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Gusher. Muddied brown, wild and uneven head. Some good abbey yeast on the nose, but old dishwater too. Same taste of something turned and forgotten, like socks or a cardboard box that got damp. The hints of the Bernardus 12 are there, but only underscore that something is not complete here. I need another bottle.
